It was a barnburner in Tight Squeeze, as the Cavaliers broke the school scoring record on their way to a 79-54 victory over the James River (Buchanan) Knights. Couple of unreal stats when looking at the Cavaliers night.....
Senior Slot/RB Parker Martin notched 312 All Purpose Yards and 3 Touchdowns with 2 coming through 4 catches and 168 yards receiving and the other from an 80 yard kick return touchdown.
Sophomore QB Ethan Reynolds, making his first career varsity start, 8 of 12 on the night for 255 yards and 3 Touchdowns through the air....
Either one of those nights would be impressive enough to garner player of the week honors, but then Senior RB Preston Turner had 18 carries, 448 yards and 8 Touchdowns on the ground to go along with 1 receiving touchdown of 27 yards. The 475 all purpose yards and 9 Touchdowns vaulted him into VHSL history. He is now the single game record holder for total touchdowns in a game, several had had 8, but now that mark has been eclipsed. His 54 points finishes second all time in VHSL history, and his 448 yards was good enough for 10th all time in VHSL history.
