Chilhowie / Ridgeview benefit game

Chilhowie and Ridgeview both passed their preseason test friday night. Ridgeview scored first and added a field goal to go up 10-0. Chilhowie came back with 2 scores. 14 - 10 Chilhowie. It was tied 17 all at half. Chilhowie kicked a long field goal in the 3rd to make it 20 to 17. That would end the scoring for the first strings on both teams. Ridgeviews 2 and 3 teams scored twice late in the game to make the final score 30-20. Chilhowie played their 2 and 3 teams in the mid 3rd and all 4th quarter also.
Both staffs had to be pleased with the game. Two good teams. Both should have good seasons.
Chilhowie will travel to Marion friday, Ridgeview will travel to Grundy friday. Best of luck to both teams.

Blaster, it is very good to hear from you. Considering my age, My health is OK. BUT, This hot weather has taken a toll on my asthma this summer. I look forward to cooler times, My Friend. When you get near 7 decades old you will count your blessings for each good day our Holy Father gives us.
It is football time again, and that is good. I have spent much of my life around football, and the anticipation is still as strong now as it was 60 years ago, when I was only a kid. Life moves fast. It seems only yesterday that I was in school and college, now my days on God's Earth are numbered, My Friend.
People around here are expecting our team to do well again, and I hope so. I am sure GW will do well also.
Football season is special, My Friend. It special because the kids are special! The parents, the Coaches, the fans are all special too. During football season, we can put our petty differences down and we become ONE. ONE big family. There is no class system, no racial system, no political system. It is just football. Kids playing a game, and us old guys acting like kids. Dang, you can't beat that! God Bless us all!

Chilhowie just became my favorite 2018 Class 1A team. No disrespect to some of my pals in Sussex, Surry and West Point, but I'm rooting for the Warriors this year, period.
