Clarke 28, RE Lee 7

Bad draw for both teams as that was a 2nd/possible 3rd round matchup in regards to 2A East. No denying that. Clarke just took over the game physically in 2nd half.

I think that the number of players that Lee brought was also a factor, only 29 were dressed, and they played hurry-up offense all night. Yeah, Clarke made adjustments at the half as expected, Lee didn't change anything. Usually the games between Clarke and Lee are a little closer, but Lee had nothing in the 2nd half.

How is Gap? We play them next at Clarke.

Lee had no Offense, 14-7 game until 6 min in 4th. Lee's D line played solid the first half, got wore down in 2nd. But honestly Clarke didn't impress. Came out taking Lee lately?

Maybe (I assume you meant Clarke took Lee lightly), but like I said, Lee ran hurry up. Clarke has not played anyone this season who ran the hurry up, especially the whole game. They adjusted in the 2nd half, and took over.

I also noticed great sportsmanship on both teams. 3-4 penalties the whole night, it was a very clean game. 1 delay of game, 1 holding, 1 false start, and maybe 1 more I can't remember. Refs pretty much let them play, and nobody got hurt.

I was in attendance, It was a good clean game, Lee looked like a 4-6 team. Everything for Clarke goes through #1. Totally different version of the single wing than Giles.

Clarke wasn't sharp at all during 1st half. Had a drive die on mishandled snap and then another on illegal procedure call--field position hurt them early. It's been probably 6 or so weeks since a snap was mishandled. The energy level for Clarke picked up in 2nd half for sure

As for their version of the wing -that is probably the most touches of Rogers career. Ball is usually more spread out but that position is the centerpiece of their version for the past 9-10 years of running it.

Good luck to Giles as I'm always pulling for Clarke/Giles/Stone Bridge etc as single wing teams.

The better team won no doubt, but Lee played Clarke much tougher than I expected. I was expecting a blowout, but Lee was ahead 7-0 at the half and very well could have been 14-0 at that point if not for a fumble at the 1 or 2 yardline (not sure if he would have gotten in, but that field position would have been tougher as well). Clarke wore the D down in the 4th quarter and capitalized on a pick 6 later to seal the victory as it was tied at 7s going into the 4th if I remember correctly. It was a battle for sure. There was one turnover on downs on Lee at about the 30 yard line when they were driving that looked like a first down, but it was marked short, not sure if anyone had a better angle but from where I was standing looked good (not that it matters now).

As for the poster that asked about Buffalo Gap, they have been a tough team to peg for me this year. Play calling on offense seems a little odd to me in the games I've seen as they try to force rocket and jet packages a lot when they should just lineup, run North/South and smash it down your throat, but it has apparently been successful as they have won 8 games so far. Their game with Brunswick was apparently a bloodbath that could have gone either way, with numerous penalties (which have haunted them all year long). Going into the playoffs I would have picked Clarke by 5 TDs over BG, but after last night I think it has the potential to be a lot closer than that.

There is something to be said for a team playing "up" in a district. Not that the Valley is great this year but Lee is only 2A in that district with everyone else as 3/4/5. Numbers do make a difference. The Shenandoah as a whole isn't going to like what they are getting next year.......Clarke has been the team who has eliminated Lee 3 out of the 4 years since them coming to 2A and the 2 other times were deeper in playoffs.
Lee played well to keep game close for sure Friday and is to be commended. They converted a couple 4th downs in first half and took advantage of field position with the scoring drive starting at clarke's 32 yard line. Turnover on downs could have gone anyway but clarke had taken over upfront for the most part at that point. Toss up there with the call. Clarke didn't help themselves at all in 1st half (with a bad snap on lees 20ish and penalty on 2 separate drives --when running single wing-you can't get behind the chains) but Clarke is to be commended on the adjustments they made as they controlled the LOS in the second half as lee really couldn't move the ball.

Not disagreeing with above comments, just my opinion,Clarke will struggle against a well rounded team. Lee's Qb had a 20yrd arm, their D line played tough, it is playoffs. The TD to put Clarke up 21-7.... the last defender #81 I think, never left field entire game, did not give effort on play. Lee layed down IMHO
