72 - 6 was the final, could have been much, much worse. Riverside number 6 took a hard hit in the 2nd quarter, I heard it up in the top of the stands. He was assisted slowly off the field, I hope he's okay, but would not be surprised if he had a cracked rib or two. Again, Clarke had some stupid penalties...The unsportsmanlike called I would like to know what it was. Clarke receiver was coming back up the field slowly after missing a long pass he should have caught, then a Clarke player ran over to him and pushed him from behind as if to hurry him up. That's when the flag flew. I guess the Clarke player ran his mouth? Stupid. Also the holding penalties, they gotta quit that. One penalty that was against Clarke but went our way was a touchdown play. Ref called offensive facemask on the runner after the touchdown, but he was pushing on the defensive player's facemask about 5 yards before the TD.
2nd half, the clock ran and the 2nd string scored 3 more TD's. Riverside got their only first down of the game in the late 3rd quarter. Only TD in the 4th due to an incomplete tackle and nice running by the receiver.
Clarke's kicking game leaves a lot to be desired. Inconsistent at best. Some PATs, the kicker looked like he wasn't trying, others the kick would have been good from 40 yards out.
There was one TD play on the second string that was definitely a feel good moment. There's a kid on Clarke's team that I've never seen on the field in a game. He went in to do a block, and one of the Clarke backs stood by him and explained what to do before the snap. This kid's block assisted greatly in the TD, and the head slapping and fist pumping on the sideline by the whole team on him made it look like he was on cloud nine. He was pumped the rest of the game. Good job, guys!!
