Does anyone know what the new school will be called?
Will they be 1A or 2A?
Mascot?

"Generic cookie cutter high school name #3" with "Generic cookie cutter nickname #4"

I like the Dickenson High School "Stanleys" myself... an ode to the Stanley Brothers... but I'm sure some sad sack would find that name offensive.

Stanley's? No thanks. We have a Ralph Stanley "museum", and that is more than enough for someone who doesn't even acknowledge that he's from Dickenson county.

I like Haywood High School, salem... I would prefer that over that genaric name they chose.

Exactly. In my opinion the Stanley's get more credit than they deserve anyways but that's just me. I was in favor of dickenson county high school. As far as the team name they are all pretty much generic. I'm fine with the wolfpack part it's better than some that were thrown around.

The county had another high school that shut down at the end of the 2012 school year called Ervinton so a neutral name had to be decided. There are supposed to be 3wolves in the wolfpack logo to symbolize the 3 schools. Supposedly one wolf will have blue eyes, one red, and one green for the school colors of the 3 schools.

Yep that sounds like a good one.

There's a high school in West Virginia called WAHAMA.. that school took its name from the first two letters of the 3 schools it was consolidating: Waggener, Hartford, and Mason. Very creative. Not sure what could be derived from the first two letters of Clintwood, Haysi, and Ervinton though.. ERCLHA? No. CLHAER? Nope. HACLER..No. Hmm... Haywood or Dickenson work much better.

And sorry, I just randomly tossed Stanleys out there. I don't listen to bluegrass or folk anyway so didn't know what their history actually was there. Just tried to think of something that might pertain to some history in Dickenson County..

Maybe they could be the Haywood Dickensons :p
