1st Round Results:
Coach Kane of Hermitage took 77% of the vote to top Coach Pritchard of Deep Run.
Coach Allen swept away Coach Brown of Henrico with 100% of the vote.
Patrick Kane first popped on the scene in the Richmond Region at Dinwiddie from 1996-1997 and then took over at Hermitage in 2001 and found instant success. In 17 seasons Kane never had a losing season and guided the Panthers to 13 playoff appearances including a Class 6 State Final appearance in 2010. In 13 appearances Kane's Panthers were 17-13 adding to an impressive record of 175-44!
Coach Gus Allen on the other hand was with Hermitage from 1982-1992. 11 seasons at the helm of the Panthers Coach Allen posted 6 winning seasons and reached the playoffs 3 times. Those 3 times equated to a 2-3 mark with the two wins coming in the 1984 season in which the Panthers won the AAA Central Region title before falling to Hampton in the state semifinals. When Coach Allen left Hermitage he did so with a mark of 64-49-2.
