Well that was fun to watch! The boys in navy had another great showing tonight! Defense was great! Williams#8..a freshman with a 105 yard pick 6! The three headed monster of Sturdivant,Freeland, and Tyree ran wild! Manchild Pope was his usually self! He gets the ball in space you can forget it. So hard to tackle. Defense was so impressive! Welcome to the 2016 edition of the greatest show in VA! The country boys are ready for a run!!

I have to admit this (2016) version of the Generals is starting to look eerily familiar.

The defense played lights out and virtually held Hopewells starters to negative yardage. I am not a betting man, but if I was I believe Hopewells 4 star running back (Walker) had negative yardage and the quaterback was sacked six times. Hill also threw three picks (two for pick sixes).

Offensively, you just can't figure out who to concentrate on. We are scoring through the air and on the ground. Witt (qb) is playing mistake free football and is managing the game like a senior should.

Minor concerns include: the defensive backs failure to find the ball on deep passes and a some stupid penalties.

The one major concern continues to be kickoff coverage. The Generals have to get this fixed. I am not sure if we are being to fancy with weaves or the boys are not staying in their lanes. This is going to bite us very soon if its not fixed. The rest of the special team units are playing well. Kicker is 33 for 33 on extra points.

Will not get too excited have a long way to go, but I surely am starting to believe. Lots of good teams out there. Monacan, Louisa, Eastern View, Chancellor, King William and Powhatan are not going to roll over. Not to mention LT and Heritage in the Far East. On to Matoaca.

What do you think about #15 and #5? The 2 ends on defense! I know Fields is #5.#15 had a great game tonight! His name slips my mind right now. They are very good on the ends! The defensive backs worry me too. Have to get there head around and find the ball.

Fields (9) and Clayton (15) have played well all season. Fields has a fast motor and gets a nice jump on the edge. He has improved tremendously and is not getting sucked in. His patience is paying off. Clayton is technically sound. He plays very smart and physical. Two very nice DE's that are different, but compliment one another. Miles Scott and Omar Tyson are really stuffing up the middle. Very quick defense. Pope is doing well in the middle and #45 Jordan Hudson (olb) has stopped thinking and just playing football. It shows. He is the second leading tackler.

Wahoogen, I love your enthusiasm, but there is a ton of work to do. Both Matoaca and Thomas Dale beat us last season. One step at at time.

Timmy Fields is a beast. I saw a guy duck him last night only to straighten up to get hammered by Pope. Like Navy says, the young man's motor is revved to the max, and all he does is lift his foot off of the clutch.

I was disappointed in the KO return to our 5 yard, line that Hopewell got last night. I think there is work to be done on KO coverage. But, everyone has to remember, Hopewell has a darn good team. And I'm happy to say, they had a lot of chances to run kick offs back. Incidentally, that was the set of downs that resulted in the 103 yard interception return by Dinwiddie. Plays like that are just daggers in the heart for the opponent. You get a great return and end up giving up a pick six two plays later. Awful hard to stay focused and upbeat when that happens.
