This would have been a great game last year but Grassfield is down this year & having to rebuild. I expect this to get ugly & I hope the Eagles don't get too big headed over beating them. Grassfield will be in the middle of the District standings with their loss to Deep Creek last week.

I love the idea of teams pushing themselves to travel and find tougher opponents. How about more 804 vs 757 games too?

New here...here are the upcoming NoVa 6A games w/ some 5A schools thrown in ('cause that's how they schedule it up here...):

- Annandale (2-0) at James Robinson (1-1)
- Capital Christian (0-1) at Thomas Jefferson (0-1)
- Fairfax (1-1) at Robert E. Lee (0-2)
- Falls Church (1-1) at Mount Vernon (2-0)
- Herndon (1-0) at Chantilly (0-2)
- James Madison (2-0) at West Potomac (2-0)
- J.E.B. Stuart (0-1) at Park View (0-2)
- Langley (0-2) at W.T. Woodson (0-2)
- South County (1-1) at Centreville (1-1)
- South Lakes (2-0) at Oakton (0-2)
- Stone Bridge (1-0) at Lake Braddock (0-2)
- T.C. Williams (2-0) at Tuscarora (1-1)
- Washington-Lee (0-1) at West Springfield (2-0)
- Yorktown (2-0) at Wakefield (1-0)

Predictions? Game-of-the-Week should be James Madison vs. West Potomac, though South County/Centreville and Stone Bridge/Lake Braddock will be interesting to see how they turn out.

Welcome to VAPreps! I like your games of the week. South County at Centreville should be very telling and I'd think the winner should most likely to challenge Westfield in the playoffs. If Centreville can recover from last week's loss, it could be another tough season for them.

Given the very poor tackling I've seen from Lake Braddock, I'd be surprised is Stone Bridge doesn't beat them by at least 21 points.

Honestly, I don't know enough about Madison or West Potomac but hopefully, other people can provide their insights.

Let the debates begin!

Predictions...

- Annandale (2-0) at James Robinson (1-1)
First time these two have met since 2004. Robinson should win this one going away.

- Capital Christian (0-1) at Thomas Jefferson (0-1)
Know NOTHING about Capital Christian. But DO know TJ has lost 34 games in a row.

- Fairfax (1-1) at Robert E. Lee (0-2)
Fairfax should have enough to send Lee to 0-3.

- Falls Church (1-1) at Mount Vernon (2-0)
Predict a Mount Vernon upset here. Or would it really be an upset?

- Herndon (1-0) at Chantilly (0-2)
Coach Curry gets his first win at Chantilly.

- James Madison (2-0) at West Potomac (2-0)
Madison is very physical team. Defense will slow WP down.

- J.E.B. Stuart (0-1) at Park View (0-2)
Both teams looking for what may be their only win of the season.

- Langley (0-2) at W.T. Woodson (0-2)
Woodson because they are at home?

- South County (1-1) at Centreville (1-1)
Expecting a close game. Centreville has room for improvement. Don't forget they took down heavily favored Lake Braddock & Lamont Atkins early in the season last year.

- South Lakes (2-0) at Oakton (0-2)
A blowout. Oakton just ain't what they used to be.

- Stone Bridge (1-0) at Lake Braddock (0-2)
Hard to believe LB starts 0-3.

- T.C. Williams (2-0) at Tuscarora (1-1)
TCW has been known to surprise teams on occasion. Perhaps they give the Huskies a game?

- Washington-Lee (0-1) at West Springfield (2-0)
W-L has never beaten WS (0-5)

- Yorktown (2-0) at Wakefield (1-0)
Coin flip says Yorktown.

757FridayNiteZ...

To your question, this year Madison has only played their first string offense and defense for about 3.5 quarters across two games...they an unknown for a full game (they were up 28-0 two minutes into the second quarter against Fairfax HS). This will be the first real test against West Potomac which is talked about as a very athletic group of kids that performed very well in their first two games. The Wolverines lost to the Warhawks in last year's playoffs 21-14 (?), but they are both different teams this year.

Seems like more evenly matched games this week.

- Annandale (2-0) at James Robinson (1-1)
Hard to go with Annandale after a disappointing season last year.

- Capitol Christian (0-1) at Thomas Jefferson (0-1)
Capitol Christian might show up with 50 players and a full cheerleading squad, they might show up with 12 players, half of whom are foreign basketball recruits who have never played football before, they might realize they've scheduled three games for the same day and not show up at all. TJ"s lost so many games in a row that I can't pick them but it's not out of the question for them to win this.

- Fairfax (1-1) at Robert E. Lee (0-2)
Lee was competitive against West Springfield but Fairfax actually posts their stats in the Post website so I'll go with them.

- Falls Church (1-1) at Mount Vernon (2-0)
MV will score too much to lose to Falls Church.

- Herndon (1-0) at Chantilly (0-2)
Coin toss, I'll pick the team that's actually a won a game.

- James Madison (2-0) at West Potomac (2-0)
Playoff rematch, West Pot had the quality win last week so they get the nod here. We'll learn a lot about both teams.

- J.E.B. Stuart (0-1) at Park View (0-2)
Park View should be playing TJ.

- Langley (0-2) at W.T. Woodson (0-2)
Langley showed signs of life last week.

- South County (1-1) at Centreville (1-1)
Probably just anti-LoCo bias speaking, but if Centreville couldn't stop one kid from John Champe how are they going to stop South County?

- South Lakes (2-0) at Oakton (0-2)
I guess South Lakes got all of Oakton's football talent in the redistricting.

- Stone Bridge (1-0) at Lake Braddock (0-2)
LB had plenty of chances against West Potomac last week, but they don't really have any of the standout players they've had in recent years.

- T.C. Williams (2-0) at Tuscarora (1-1)
Has TC ever played a team from Loudoun County before? They've played two potential 0-10 teams the first two weeks. Tuscarora not the same team they were a few years ago, could go either way.

- Washington-Lee (0-1) at West Springfield (2-0)
Once W-L's enrollment hits 5,000 they'll have a decent football team. West Springfield bouncing back after being perhaps the most disappointing team in the area last year.

- Yorktown (2-0) at Wakefield (1-0)
Yorktown is actually only 1-0, but they're 21-0 in their last 21 games against Wakefield, so there's only one way to pick.

I’ll throw in some more NOVA games – the Prince William County area teams.

Battlefield (2-0) @ Forest Park (2-0)
This should be great game. A win by Battlefield here would indicate a 10+ win season is in the forecast.

Lake Taylor (1-0) @ Freedom (2-0)
Freedom has out-scored their opponents 130-21. But those teams were not close to the caliber of LT.

Gar-Field (0-1) @ Stonewall Jackson (0-2)
Neither team has scored yet this season. That will likely change.

Osbourn (0-2) @ C.D. Hylton (1-0)
It will be a blowout.

Osbourn Park (0-2) @ Woodbridge (1-0)
Easy win for Woodbridge.

Colgan (0-2) @ Patriot (1-1)
Patriot should be able to keep Colgan from picking their first varsity win.

Score predictions for those PWC games:

Battlefield 31 Forest Park 17
Freedom 36 Lake Taylor 20
Gar-Field 9 Stonewall Jackson 7
C.D. Hylton 49 Osbourn 14
Woodbridge 42 Osbourn Park 7
Patriot 35 Colgan 14

Lake Taylor @ Freedom - Nice match-up ! Biggest game in the state after Dinwiddie / Salem this week.

6A
  1. Riverbend (1-1) vs. Chancellor (0-2) – 54-28 Riverbend - Subs played a lot of 2nd half. Was 47-14 at halftime
  2. Colonial Forge (2-0) vs. Grassfield (0-1) - Forge dominates 42-0.
5A
  1. Brooke Point (2-0) vs Briar Woods (0-2) – Brooke Point 48-14
  2. Hanover (0-1) vs. Massaponax (1-1) – Ponax rebounds 51-14
  3. Mountain View (0-2) vs. James Monroe (0-2) – Mountain View 30-0
  4. North Stafford (2-0) vs. Potomac (0-2) - NS 48-12
  5. Courtland (0-2) vs. Stafford (2-0) – Stafford moves to 3-0 19-7

Grassfield is completely rebuilding in 2017. This game vs Colonial Forge would have been really good last year. The Grizzlies will a tough time making the playoffs this year.
