Congrats to all the finals participants!!

This time of year is always the best of times and the worst of times. The winners are ecstatic having achieved their goal. Unfortunately often times the losers spend an inordinate amount of time focusing on what might have been. Bottom line all the teams, coaches and players should take pride in their accomplishments. There were 12 teams playing on the second Saturday in December out of 300+ high schools in Virginia and you were one of them. The memories and relationships will last a life time and the sting of defeat will subside. Everyone should enjoy the positives and try not to dwell on the negatives!!

I had the good fortune to spend Saturday in Lynchburg and the only thing better than the weather was the two games I got to watch. To Salem and LT, thanks for a classic and a walk down memory lane. No malice intended to the offenses but, those defenses were exceptional and great fun to watch. To MV and LB, thanks for the show as well. LB showed grit and determination they just ran in to a team with some special players that have a habit of stepping up their performance when the bright lights come on. A special shout out to the fan bases of both schools. You showed up loud and proud and exhibited what HS football in general and championship Saturday, specifically, are all about. August can't get here soon enough to strap it on and start all over again.
