You guys took a hard path to the title and left it all on the floor last night in Richmond. Beating Gate City and Dan River on the way to beating a good Amelia squad was truly an incredible run. Congrats to Coach Jarrett Hatcher on following in your Dad's footsteps and bringing another State Title to Staunton! Congrats to all the players, assistant coaches and the Staunton community....it feels good to be on top of the mountain again. Celebrate and enjoy your accomplishments....and do it again next year! Thanks for a fun and memorable season!

As a longtime Dan River fan, I would like to say congratulations to the Robert E. Lee Fighting Leemen on your state championship. Your team definitely earned that title with overtime wins over Gate City and your comeback overtime win over my Wildcats, and beating the Raiders for the title. (I rather see yall win since you beat us, no offense to Amelia Co.)
I like Lee, but hopefully soon in the future the James River district (which is half made up of the old Southside District) will win a State championship in boys basketball. The only school from the old district to do so is Brunswick. Amelia might break that glass ceiling in the future.
I'll bet that Amelia's team and coach stayed on the court to accept their runner-up trophy and to watch the presentation of the championship trophy.

The negative stuff against Lee on here is funny...I mean seriously? I do know that Lee is State Champs...that's what matters. Coach Hatcher, and that team earned it going through Gate City, Dan River, and Amelia. So...you can say as many negative things as you want...they're still champs. Lee stayed on the court to get their Title trophy...and even the team pic at VCU. It was fantastic and...it feels great to be a Lee fan!
Whether it's the people bashing Hatcher, or the Martinsvile fans, or the Madison fans...you all find everything negative to point out about Lee. Heck it has been that way forever on here...makes me think that Lee has a darn good program and history.
There were three very good teams that had a chance to derail Lee and prove that they aren't well coached, aren't that good, or can't win the big game...and they all lost. No disrespect to those programs...they are all good and very tough teams. My point is simple....the Leemen proved themselves and brought the title back to Staunton and that can't be argued.

Must be a guilty conscious...I never mentioned Lee in my post. I do know that Amelia's coach made sure his team stayed out for BOTH presentations. Class act. Can't say the same thing happened in the East Region finals...of course the coach has NOTHING to do with that,,,
Leemen understands what now the whole state of Virginia understands. You can win a state title with 2 division 1 players and a glorified middle school coach. They say 'ball don't lie,' well record don't either. Barely over .500 for 5 years at a school that should contend for a state title every year. Congrats on Lee winning this year. But why haven't they even been in the discussion for the last 5? He bought himself some time, but mark my words, he can't win consistently. Yes he has the players to win again next year. Hopefully he will do what he did this year and stop getting in the way with schemes that don't work. Instead of jacking up ridiculous 3s. Just get the ball to Vaughan. He made you(hatcher) look a lot better then you are this year.
Yo Teflon .. no one is arguing that Lee is state champs Captain Obvious. The point that was made orignially is valid. Lee, particularly younger Hatcher, has a long history of temper tantrums and not hanging around for 2nd place trophies. I witnessed this in person at JMU years ago and at the Vines Center before that. I was not at Madison game, but it seems that this was true there too.
Winning is all the matters? Don't think so. Kudos to Amelia and their staff for staying around like they are required to by VHSL rules.
Sort of like the "backhanded" negative remarks you have posted about Martinsville and some of the other teams that Lee has played over the years. And there was a time when Lee, as the 2nd-place team, left the floor before the presentation of the championship trophy. And let's be real here, Leemen, isn't this just Lee's 7th title? FYI, the VHSL also offers championships for creative writing, Leemen. Maybe you could try for one of those.
Never hear the leefans appreciate good basketball when there be someone else besides lee who be winning the big dance - just always blowing the breeze about lee and its fantagabulous players and coaching staff. tell thetrey, y'all so good up there in leeland,, why it be taking y'all so long to get back on top of the heap?
