Cox Head Football Coach Bill Stachelski has been suspended for the remainder of the regular season and the playoffs for unspecified reasons, according to multiple reports and a letter sent out to families from Principal Randi Riesbeck.
It is unclear when and whether or not Stachelski will return to the sidelines for the Falcons. In his absence, assistant Brad Nelson will lead the Virginia Beach program for the remainder of the 2015 campaign. That includes beginning on Friday night with a trip to undefeated and nationally-ranked Ocean Lakes.
In his eight seasons as Head Coach, Stachelski has gone 53-31 overall and 6-2 this season. They are coming off their first playoff victory a year ago. Only Al Habit, who won 71 games from 1972-87, has recorded more victories in Cox history than Stachelski as a Head Football Coach.
Stachelski becomes the fourth Head Coach in Hampton Roads to be suspended this year, joining Pete Gale at Great Bridge, Joe Jones of King's Fork and Ocean Lakes' Chris Scott.
