Catz looking like the team to beat out West. Jameer Reynolds should be on every Virginia mid major recruiting list.
What about Nelson Co? They have 2 wins over DR. I know they have a 6'8 kid, who is really good, plus another kid who averages around 17 ppg.

Haven’t seen Nelson but their resume looks very impressive too. I saw some clips of Staunton and was thinking, damn how did they lose that game against Rocktown?! Nelson competed very well with Staunton. It’s good to see Nelson build their basketball and football programs back up.

Really like what I've seen from Reynolds. He came down to the Virginia Beach Sports Center in the Fall for an event and was easily one of the best, if not best, players there. Has a lot of untapped potential.

Bo, wasn't Reynolds at Carlisle last year? Lot of talent left the Chiefs after last year, Beamer to IMG, Reynolds, Mattox to SML, the kid from Danville at Greensboro Day, no wonder Carlisle is losing alot of games this year.

Yes sir he was at Carlisle. Warwick Scott’s son also transferred from Carlisle to Dan River. DR has the size to challenge just about anyone outside of John Marshall in C2. Reynolds is 6’7, DR’s center is about 6’6 and Scott is 6’6. All pretty athletic.

Bo - Staunton's game against Rocktown was their season opener - they got revenge later on.

I've been impressed with Kevin Madden's first season at the helm - very undersized team - but 20-2 on the season - only other loss was to undefeated Handley - currently riding 15 game winning streak.

That region is going to be TOUGH to advance - Meridian (undefeated), Spotswood, Western Albemarle, Staunton for starters...

Staunton looks GOOOOD! I love their guard play. I say it every year, C3 is the best classification in Virginia. Between those teams you’ve named, we still have Northside, LCA (which is in that region), Carroll County, and Cave Spring in the West. The East is just insanely loaded with Lake Taylor, Hopewell and New Kent.

Any 2C Region updates?

Staunton (20-2, 12-0) will get a home game to start the Region 3C tournament. The Storm were seeded second in the most recent standings. The top four teams get a first-round bye in the 12-team playoffs.

@AntGZee

It's hard to find information about the various regions - I'll keep looking for 2C

I only keep up with 3C because of Staunton.

From what I can see, 2C looks VERY competitive:

Gretna (17-4)
Nelson (15-4)
Glenvar (16-7)
Floyd (16-5)
Dan River (15-5)
Appo (12-7)

It looks really strange to see Radford with 10-12 record

This region is loaded. It’s sad that their potential fate is John Marshall. Without JM, I could see any of those top 5 teams winning the whole thing 🙃

I know the feeling. VHS coulda won it all last year if not for JM. Union got really lucky JM didn’t play the COVID year so the Bears got the chip when they beat Tyler Nickel (starting for a tourney bound maybe Vandy team) and East Rock pretty easily. The ER coach was kind of clueless, never made the first adjustment. The Radford game against Cam Cormany and PJ P was much tougher.

I love class 1 and class 2 sports, but I'll admit it's hard to get excited about boys basketball when it's already a forgone conclusion of who is going to win... Without JM, it would be one wide open state tournament
