Looking good @MascotMemorizer! Nice to see the Wildcats in the news doing something positive in the community. I've been talking to a couple of Dan River's varsity players in the Y and it's safe to say that the Catz will be d*mn good this year. I've seen nothing but pure athletes and competitors. I've heard that they have a solid QB for the season. Has anyone seen them in 7on7 action? If so, how do the boys from Ringgold look? IMO, if the QB play is right and they stay healthy, I see a win over GW in the annual benefit game, 10-0/9-1 regular season and at least a state quarterfinal appearance. They're gonna be good!

If that's true what you say, that might make the first game of the season very interesting. MV will be bringing a busload of new starters to Ringgold. Should be a good opening test for both teams.

That is whats up!! That is what I love about Coach Smith. He takes this football team year after year to do community services. I love to hear football, baseball, softball, basketball teams out there grinding in the community giving back. GO WILDCATS!

Our JV barely beat yall last year and it came down to the last few plays. So I know yall got some some fresh crop coming up. One thing i have always say about DR, Appo always marks down on the calendar when we play DAN RIVER! They know its not going to be a roll over match. Last year surprised me when they gave up at halftime to go to the buses during the thunderstorm. I was the first to say? "HUH? WHAT? I bet if one of them Edmunds was on the team, Coach wouldnt have packed that bus to go home." That Junior RB Cam had 100 yards on us in the rain at the end of half. I called the coach YELLOW! It just wasn't DR football to tuck and run like that. Then the coach said after the game, "I know we have the better team and athletes" in the interview. We was beating them 35-7 by halftime??? That is why I loved BEATING THAT TAIL in the playoffs!!! I took that personal when he said they was the better team and you tuck tail and run????

DR will be back this year strong, no doubt. I feel that coach needs to humble himself though. That i-formation is not going to beat the Raiders this year either, we too fast for it. I do see that short RB Cam getting off this year, he is a solid little runner w/ great patience and I love to watch him play.

I just dont see DR beating out strong fast D with a i-formation. Now if they do some passing to mix it up, I can see it being a tough game. If they dont pass vs. Appo, DR will get blown out! Remember this conversation.

You're probably right! I haven't seen DR play in person in 2 years and I haven't seen Appo since they completely shut down both Trey Edmunds (Dan River) and state champ Gretna in the rain my senior year back in 2011 in Appo. I'm just going off of what I've seen on Hudl and from what I've heard from some of the area's schools coaching staff. I'm neither here or there on the matter. I'm just going off of potential and what's coming back. DR is hands down the most experienced team out of GW and Magna Vista in this area.

And I'm not sure who has looks on DR's team. I'm sure Devin Stone will get some big time looks. Cincinatti tries to sign at least one player from the Danville area each year. I think him and Durant will be the top 2 seniors in our area this year. Stone is probably one of the best basketball players in 2a this year so he could very well go to a D2 school to play basketball.

Yeah that Gretna/Appo game that year was good! I got soaked that night lol.. Gretna had their chances but Appo just wanted it more on their senior night! DR didn't have any kind of passing game and Appo had 8/9 men in the box.. I think Trey ran like 28 times for like 70 yards. Appo should've done big things that year. The QB y'all had was the truth. Ran the option to perfection.

That's just them. Semi-cocky, very very confident. The whole community has a chip on their shoulder. They've earned it tho. I love to see GW beat them up in football lol but I have a lot of respect for DR. I went to Tunstall and they used to beat up on us pretty bad, especially in basketball (we never stood a chance). DR is now even beating Tunstall in baseball and Tunstall's a state powerhouse. A lot of GW guys go out there to play for Coach Edmunds. They have a mentality out there, us against the world. I like it. It's good for sports. I'm all for sportsmanship, but sports has become watered down. Too much buddy buddy ball. I like a little trash talk.

Josh Wilson was the QB. he was a 4.45 40 yd dash guy. he was solid with a SO SO arm. He did run that option well. He was one ofvthe most arrogant kids I have ever seen come through Appo. Piss poor attitude. Coach Smith lined up a work out for Liberty U for him and he didnt even show up. Smith didnt have to do it cause he wasnt even Wilsons coach. The street and block life has caught him up nowadays.

Dan River should at least have 4 state championships at the 2a/Single A level. They've taken some of GW's once prized JV and middle schools kids and done absolutely nothing with them. Dee McMoore, Cinco Adams, Q Stephens (who did win a state in basketball) and they've had more. Throw in the Edmunds brothers and that's 5-6 go to guys. That's rare to have at a small school. Dan River has yet to have a half decent QB. My senior year in 2011, which was Trey Edmunds' senior year, they had their best team ever. I think they made it to the 3rd round of the playoffs. Trey ran for about 250 yards and they lost because of piss poor QB play. That's the difference between them and GW/MV. They have the athletes to compete with GW&MV, but they just don't have the QB/Line to finish the job.

Kid was tough! Could've played at Liberty or VMI. Sad that he didn't maximize his potential. He torched Gretna in the mud. I think he ran for 250+ in a couple of games that year too. Y'all had another guy with dreads, tall guy maybe 6'3. Played football and basketball! He was a hoss too. Y'all had 2 other good skill guys.
