Danville R&B Shootout December 26,27,29

What I was told the other night by a sports writer was that the GW-Westover winner would play the Magna Vista-Chatham winner and the Martinsville-Tunstall winner would play the Dan River-E. Alamance winner. Not sure of the seedings, but this was what was told to me several nights ago.

You're exactly right! I heard the same about an hour ago. Should be one of the best fields in recent memory of the Shootout. Other than Tunstall, Chatham, and Westover, I wouldn't be surprised to see any of those other 5 teams take it.

Because of the issues in Martinsville Friday night, the word is the schedule for the tournament has been tweaked. The original schedule had Martinsville playing at 7 and GW to follow, but now my understanding is they will play in different sessions to open the tournament. I guess you can't really invite these two to the same dinner party.

Didn't know that! Really makes zero sense! They'll have to play in the second round in the same session so that isn't going to solve anything and possibly play each other Monday for the championship. Just play basketball. First player or fan that steps out of line should be dealt with accordingly. If I pay $5 to come watch a game, I want to see basketball, not any drama.

I was told today by someone from Magna Vista that Mavahi-Tunstall at 5:30, MV-Reidsville at 7:00 and GW-Westover at 8:30. I'm with you Danville, just play ball. By the way I was told wrong Chatham is not in the tourney Reidsville(NC) is the other team in the tournament. Isn't former GW coach Chris Carter coaching at Reidsville now?

Re: Danville R&B Shootout Needs changing. Been the same way for 30 years

In my opinion this tournament is nowhere near where it can potentially be. Most of these match ups we can see outside of the NC schools. I don't see why GW doesn't hold two tourney sites. One at Averett and one at GW's campus. Get a team or two from NOVA, Richmond or Tidewater area. Maybe branch out and get a team or two from Maryland, WV, or KY. I think this could be much bigger than what it is now. Seems like it's set up so GW is in the final conversation in the end.The current format makes no sense to me. It's no bigger than it was 30 years ago.
