Indian River will be hosting the 2nd annual Battle at the Beach. The tournament will take place on December 15th and 16th of 2006. This year’s tournament has been expanded form a 16-team tournament to a 24-team tournament. We already have 19 committed teams. These teams are highlighted by the defending tournament champions, Howell High School (NJ) and also include three 2005-2006 top ten ranked teams from Maryland, two 2005-2006 top ten ranked teams from Virginia, one 2005-2006 top ten ranked team from New Jersey, and one 2005-2006 top 10 ranked team from Delaware. These teams highlight an extraordinary filed from Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. We are currently looking to complete the field with more of the area’s most competitive teams. Dear Coaches,
We are currently looking for teams for the 2006 “Battle at the Beach” wrestling tournament. This tournament will be held at Indian River High School on December 15th and 16th. This tournament’s 1st year was very successful. Because of this, we are looking to expand the tournament to a 24-team double elimination tournament that wrestles to 8 places. We’d like to fill 24-man brackets with some of the area’s top wrestlers.
Trophies will be awarded to the champion of each weight class, “Battle at the Beach” medals will be given to all 2nd – 4th place finishers in each weight class, and certificates will be given to 5th – 8th places. We will also award trophies to the three highest scoring teams, the wrestler with the most pins in the shortest amount of time, and the tournament’s outstanding wrestler.
Seeding will be based on 2005-2006 varsity records. There will also be consideration made for 2005-2006 middle school, junior varsity and junior league results, and accomplishments.
The cost of the tournament will be $200 per team if paid before June 1st, 2006 and $250 if paid after June 1st. All checks should be made payable to the Indian River Wrestling Boosters – Battle at the Beach.
