Real excited to announce that 2015 team captain Cecil Parham will be playing football and attending my alma mater Emory and Henry College next fall. The two time all conference linebacker will make the move to strong safety at the next level which is more suited toward his size at the next level. As a matter of fact he was going to play strong safety for us last season but had to make the move back to linebacker because of personnel issues. I wanted him to play strong safety because I knew it was his most recruit-able and where he would be put at the next level, and because he had dedicated himself to the program and what it is all about I was hesitant to move him even though I knew it would make us a better defense, we had a guy that could play strong safety but didn't have anyone ready to play linebacker and fill his spot, but I didn't have the heart to move him again he had worked so hard for it. I will never forget the selfless act that he made last August when he came into my office and told me "coach you know you got to move me back to linebacker, we will be a better defense because of it and give us a better chance to have a great defense." In 20 plus years of coaching I have never had a more selfless act happen in my program. The success in our program is because we have young men like Cecil playing for us, good people that play football. The two time all conference and 2nd team all region pic a year ago at linebacker had 99 total tackles (53 solo and 25 for a loss), 6 QB hurries and 2.5 sacks, 1 caused fumble, 1 recovered fumble, 1 interception, and 7 pass break-ups. As a junior he had 147 total tackles (71 solo and 19 for a loss), 7 QB hurries and 1 sack, 3 caused fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, and 1 interception.

I had the pleasure of being involved in an interview panel that included Cecil. I was totally blown away by his poise, his eloquence, and his deep commitment. This is one of the finest young men I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. And what a paradox. In person, you might think he was a businessman, or a Doctor, even clergy. But on the field, it was a totally different story. Many opponent have been picking themselves up off the ground asking, "what hit me"?

Cecil will get a great education at one of the best schools in Virginia. And Emory and Henry will get one of the finest young men anywhere.
