Like all teams after tomorrow, Dinwiddie has finished with their “scrimmage season”. Dinwiddie went up against three quality opponents in Oscar Smith, Green Run, and LC Bird.
Scrimmages are just glorified practice, and like 7 on 7, it’s best not to get to up or down about the results. But, Dinwiddie appeared to be equal to or better than all three other teams. At least to these untrained eyes.
The best takeaway was new sophomore QB Harry Daulton. Daulton was a RB last season, but moved to QB since then. He is big, strong and rugged, but has shown a nice touch on the ball. Perhaps best of all, he seemed to be able to identify the open receiver. His passes were not always spot on, but neither were they just put up for grabs.
Overall, Dinwiddie is small, as they often are, but they are extremely fit. The player leadership appears to be the best it has been in several years.
Overall, the future is bright. They may not win every game, but they darn sure won’t give any away. If they get beat, it will be by a team that is bigger-faster-stronger, and there will not be too many in Class 4 this year like that, I don’t believe.
