I posted a few weeks ago that I’d rather see a PH than Powhatan in the first round. I wasn’t real familiar with the Powhatan program until I moved to the 804. Those kids out there are tough, supported by the community and very well coached. It’s really like another world out there in terms of culture (the adults in power love the kids and work together). They’ll bring it. With that said, I see Powhatan giving the Generals a game for about a half… Coach Mills and company are on a collision course to Lynchburg. Generals by 28+.

Well said @BoKnowsSports. You have to respect every team left in Region B. These two teams have never met on the football field and for me it's been a long time coming. Powhatan athletics are tough and we share a strong rivalry in other sports.

Games are never won by statistics; however, I wanted posters to be able to compare the two teams.

Offensively, Powhatan scores 26 points ppg. The Indians Average 274 yards per game. 157 by air and 117 on the ground. Qb Dylan Trevillian has completed 106 passes for 1,534 yards 17 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. He has also rushed for 322 yards. The rushing attack is led by Edgar Alejo 332 yards with 5 touchdowns and Landon Huchison with 239 yards and 3 touchdowns. A trio of fine receivers include Ben Whitver, 29 catches for 511 yards and 6 touchdowns, Oscar Whitley 23 catches for 237 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Matthew Henderson 23 catches 484 yards and 8 touchdowns.

Defensively, the Indians give up 10 points a game. Their opponents average 221 yards per game. 140 in the ground and 81 yards through the air. The Powhatan defense is led by James Britt 52 tackles, Landon Gibbs 42 tackles, and Cody Osterman with 7 sacks.

Offensively, Dinwiddie scores 52 points per game. The Generals average 400 yards per game. 253 on the ground and 147 yards through the air. Qb Harry Dalton has completed 80 passes for 1,445 yards 21 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. He has also rushed for 1,069 yards and 16 touchdowns. The rushing attack is also led by Raphael Tucker 922 yards with 19 touchdowns and Zalen Wiggins 230 yards and 5 touchdowns. Dinwiddie's top receivers include Christopher Drumgoole 21 catches 421 yards with 6 touchdowns, Marquis Smith 21 catches 380 yards with 7 touchdowns, and Zalen Wiggins 20 catches 341 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Defensively, the Generals give up 7 points a game. Their opponents average 153 yards per game. 54 yards rushing and 99 through the air. The Dinwiddie defense is led by Trey McBride 82 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and 5 sacks, Devon McDowell 68 tackles and 8 sacks, and Quinton Mankin 50 tackles and 4 interceptions.

Powhatan depends on a quick hitting offense and a bend, but don't break defense. Their margin of victory is +10. They have struggled to score against the better teams on their schedule and will obviously need to be sound in be all phases to win this game. Dinwiddie puts a ton of points on the board. They pound you with the rushing game, but are very capable through the air. Dinwiddie's defense flies to be the ball and just doesn't give up much on the ground. The Generals margin of victory is an unreal +45 points.

Dinwiddie will not give up a lot of points in this game, so Powhatan must do what no one else has. Slow the game down to a crawl and keep Dinwiddie's offense off the field. The Indians could try and get in a track meet, but Dinwiddie's defensive backs and pass rush should negate that theory. Can Powhatan get it done? Not this Thursday. Powhatan will fight, but Dinwiddie has way too many weapons. 49-14 Generals.

I just noticed that Powhatan is coming off of three loses in a row. I didn’t realize that. Albeit, three playoff bound teams.

Hey, one of the Dinwiddie folks. . . The NFHSnetwork page still has the game scheduled on Friday, but it looks like mostly everyone else has theirs updated to Thursday. Wondering if one you guys might can give a heads up to one of the powers at be to ask about it. Gonna stuck at work and won't be able to make it down tomorrow.

Yes, the NFHS has a contractual agreement with the VHSL that awards them the right to broadcast a Dinwiddie, (and most other schools), games as they see fit. The camera(s) are permanently mounted on the front of the press booth in our case. There is no announcer, but there is an audio mic that pics up the PA announcer and the crowd noise. I am not positive, but I believe that the camera uses a feature called “analytics“ to automatically follow the game actions rather than to be “manned” remotely.

The coverage is decent but nowhere close to a broadcast game that utilizes multiple manned cameras and on-site broadcast personnel.
Access to view any game being broadcast is via a paid subscription to the NFHS Network. The home team gets a payment from the NFHS Network when a game is broadcast. This ability to broadcast is also available for any athletic event, if cameras are in place. I know that the camera equipment is in place in the Dinwiddie HS gym, and I think it is in place at both the softball and baseball fields. And possibly the tennis courts.

As far as the incorrect day and time, it is not unusual for time and day changes to not be updated on the website. However, the actual event is typically broadcast live regardless of the incorrect posted information.

Anyone with a subscription will be quick to tell you that glitches are not uncommon. It is my feeling that most broadcast issues are related to inconsistent Wi-Fi capability at the venue.

I hope this was helpful GoBlue. I’m 100% positive that this is the only live transmission, audio or video, of this game. Prior permission must be granted by Dinwiddie and the Regional Director, as well as the broadcast fee be pre-paid by certified of cashiers check to the Regional Director. (Regional rules). To my knowledge, no one has sought permission to broadcast live this week.

I've watched most of the games this year no problem. And the camera seems work better than some of the others teams I've tried. My real inquiry was because I know it's automated, if the schedule wasn't updated it would be streaming an empty field on Friday and miss the game Thursday

LOL, I sure hope not. I did tune into a game recently that was posted to be being played on a Friday night and I saw a dark empty field. I quickly found out that the game was actually being played on Saturday. Let’s hope and pray for you that our game works out properly.

I remember tuning in during basketball season, and on more than one occasion, the picture was of a dark high school gym.
