Dinwiddie

I’ll use this thread to make a few observations about events today.

First, Wikki and the Amherst ladies are the best. The hospitality room was nothing less than first class, as always. Thank you ladies from all of us at Dinwiddie.

Next, the accommodations for the media were terrific. All media were treated well and were provided lunch.

The company that was used by Liberty University to provide staff and security for the events today was absolutely first class and unbelievably helpful and accommodating. Those folks set an example for others to use as a guiding principle.

If you have never been to LU for any reason, you owe it to yourself to go. The facilities are top notch, no matter where you go. Ultra modern, super clear, and immaculately maintained. I would make only one recommendation. You need to have more than one concession facility open on each side of the stadium. The lines were excessively long.

We got to Lynchburg early and tried to catch breakfast at Cracker Barrel. When we went in, we were told it would be 45 minutes before we could be seated. We decided to go elsewhere, which ended up being Waffle House.
The place was rolling, but the service was quick and the food was very good. There were a bunch of Phoebus fans in there and we had fun carrying on with them. They also had the Grinch, and Mr. and Mrs Clause on site for a food drive. Needless to say, they added to the fun, except I couldn’t tell which was the Grinch and which was Bleeding Navy. I think that the better looking of the two was the Grinch?

I am so proud of the Dinwiddie faithful for coming out in force today. You made a difference. If you could be on the field and hear yourselves you would be amazed at the difference your make. Great job gang.

And last but certainly not least is the team and coaches. There is nothing that I can say that winning the Championship doesn’t say better. Congratulations fellows.

The security and guest services company is Rhino. I work for them and they are great at what they do.
Congrats to Dinwiddie.
Yes sir, they were extremely personable. The married couple that policed who went upstairs on the elevators were wonderful folks. I talked with them several times. Bless their hearts, they lost a 39 year old son to a medical condition some time recently. My heart breaks for them.

Rhino must be a really good company to work for. When people are that nice, and happy to help you, it’s usually because the company philosophy is that way.

The people and hospitality in the media box were awesome too. Excellent facilities too. I also enjoyed meeting the Amherst group. @wikki, the principal, baseball coach and the other ladies were great people. I also met a special man and his wife in the press room. Hia name was Abraham Hughes. He was a Dunbar of Lynchburg graduate. What a great story teller and fine couple. Overall it was a great day before our game even started.

If any of you have knowledge of football data from the historically black high schools, please take the time to contact Rick Baker at Four Seaons Football. His email address is cbltribe@yahoo.com

Rick has compiled a tremendous amount of information about high school football information across several states. And he makes the results of his hard work available to anyone and everyone, and at no cost.

What prompted me to make this request was that Mr Hugh’s said that Virginia State University is the repository for a lot of the black high school athletic records. I’m sure that Rick Baker has already tapped this information source, but I’m going to be darned sure he is aware of this resource. So I ask you, if you have information to share, please reach out to Rick.

If you haven’t visited his site, you are missing out on some wonderful information. http://fourseasonsfootball.com/

By the way BN, thank you for introducing me to Mr and Mrs Hugh’s. I was humbled to be in the presence of such great individuals. I would have loved to have talked to them for hours. The world needs more people just like them.

Abraham Hughes is one of the nicest guys around. I graduated Rustburg the same year he graduated Dunbar. Played a lot of basketball against him,

Thank you again, Wikki. I had a great time talking with you ladies. You make a fun day just that much better. I’ll be pulling for Amherst all the time, (except if we ever meet up with you in a sporting event). LOL

Hey Wikki, I know you live in that area and see it all the time, but how about that view of the mountains out the end window? I could stand there and look at that for hours. You folks out there are blessed with those beautiful mountains.

Merry Christmas to the Amherst ladies from all of us in Dinwiddie.
