Who determines what district a team will be in? I ask because of the way conferences are set up it would make sense for some teams to go to a district where they play their conference. I know it does not make sense for all teams to leave a district and join conferences.

VHSL Redistricting and Realignment Committee. They survey member school ADs for their input, but the committee makes the decision I believe. Someone asked me years ago to be a member, as an at-large community representative, but I had too much on my plate at the time.
Gotcha I ask because my school (Fluvanna) could combine their conference and make a district. It would be much closer and make the regular season count more. Like I said I know this is not the case for all schools. Louisa could go back to battlefield. That would make more sense too.
As far as vhsl goes they don't really recognize districts only reason there around is easy scheduling

My understanding is that the formats for all sports are going to be like 4a east and the way 5a south does it and just seed you in the region. Which still eliminates district mattering.
I agree, but some schools in the area would fight going back to the battlefield.

Culpeper is a good fit in their current district (Evergreen, I think). If their enrollment dips further, they could find a comfortable home in the Bull Run.
