Essex 42 Rappahannock 14 4Q

I believe this will extend the streak to 17 games in a row over Rappahannock for Essex.

Essex's Hammond breaks game open in 1st half...

For awhile in the 1st half it looked like Rappahannock would give Essex a good battle. Maybe Essex would fall victim in the cold to a classic trap game possibly looking ahead to the playoffs. Rapp's Marcus Byrd is a good speedy back and had a sweet run up the middle for a long TD run. The Raiders looked to make a game of it.

However, the play of the Trojans and Sterling Hammond took control. In the 1st half alone, Hammond rushed for around 50+ yards and a run TD, caught a couple passes, had several tackles (including TD saving tackle), and also had 3 interceptions including a pic 6 of around 55-60 yards that gave Essex the two score lead before half. Broaddus hit a long TD to an underclassmen in the 1st half (Johnson?).

In the 2nd half, Hammond also had a pass reception TD from Broaddus and another TD saving tackle (stopping Byrd, I believe). Malik Martin had some sweet runs and a TD as well. There was another pic 6 too. Who had that one EssexTrojan1? Good job to the D.

Still got to work on having fewer penalties. Gonna HURT the team down the road, boys.

Cold night. Nice Senior night activities for many of the Fall sports. Now we look to see the seeds. Looks like it's gonna be Altavista and Essex tied for #1 or at least the top two spots (as well it should be).

uvacavs1.... The pick 6 guy is Tim Johnson. Same guy you posted about that got the TD pass.

Essex also had a blocked punt for a TD.
