Classy display. I have a soft spot for stories like that.Just saw on Facebook that with a few seconds remaining in the 4th, both coaches must of gotten together to let an Essex player with autism score a TD in the final seconds of the game. So with that td is 53-14 for those that might see 53-14 instead of 47-14.
The kids aren't coming out to play, enrollment is down, two of their top players transferred (Running back to Smithfield, Qb to Woodside). They're top receiver transferred to Smithfield 2 years ago. The other athletes have decided that they were one sport athletes and are concentrating on basketball only (to small of a school for one sport athletes).
I live in Smithfield, both of my sons have bought houses in Surry. It's a great community. But there's VERY LITTLE for the kids to do outside of high school sports and band. Back in the early 80's when I was in HS, Surry's football squad was damn near 40 deep. Or so it seemed. The kids aren't coming out to play, enrollment is down, two of their top players transferred (Running back to Smithfield, Qb to Woodside).
