Unbeaten George Wythe and Unbeaten Richlands will square off Wednesday in the Grand
Tournament. Both teams are ranked in Virginia top ten, GW in A1 and Richlands in A2.

This Matchup was made possible when GW beat private power Mt. Mission Tuesday. Richlands Had a bye in the tournament tonight. Not sure how strong MM is this year, but last year the Grundy based school lost by only 1 point to a 45-1 Oak Hill Academy squad.

Both teams really have not been tested this year, and have not played many games, due to
An extended football playoff season. In any event, this game should be a good one. I think
It will be at 4 pm at UVA-WISE, I think?

I am not sure if GW played Mt. MISSION'S A OR B TEAM. Any way, GW and Richlands Will
Play Wednesday afternoon.

I think it was the B team of MM, but the MM B team is probably better than most high
Schools teams in Virginia. The GW vs Richlands should be a barn burner classic.

Final GW 69 Richlands 64

GW remains unbeaten. Richlands first loss.
GW ranked #1 in A1 Richlands ranked #5 in A2

I don't see any one beating GW this season. True MM B team was not near as powerful
As their A team, but GW handled them with ease.

Glad to see GW playing better out of district competition. That seems to get them every year. They go undefeated in that weak district, then when they get out. Well, get beat early in tournament play. Most teams who win a state title have some D1 talent on them. Does GW have any of that this year? Haven't seen them play but like in football, seems to be a lot of talk going on.

I hear that AltaVista will be tough again this year.

Southwest Virginia is typically not known as a hot bed for D1 talent in Basketball. Now football
Is a totally different story. You can probably count on one hand the number of D1 prospects
Coming out of SWVA in Basketball during the last ten years. It is rather unusual, because
SWVA also produces many D1 baseball players every year.
You can even go into East Tn and not find many D1 Basketball prospects.
Your D1 Basketball talent in Virginia resides in Northern VA, and the Tidewater area. There
Are a few that come out of Roanoke area, but most are from the Eastern part of Virginia.
