FINAL: OSCAR SMITH 51 NANSEMOND RIVER 13

Coach Scott FINALLY started letting some of the youngins play tonight. They were quickly indoctrinated to the quality athletes in the South Eastern District. It's easy to assume that Smith's opponents are soft but without the Tiger's Starters on the field, Nansemond River's QB came to life.

Backups are pretty tough too now. 13 is the most they've given up this year though, within the SED. Assuming they kept the penalties in check and didn't help NR there, that's not bad when you compare it to the rest of the district. Which is very impressive. Especially since NR lost to Hickory 7-6 earlier this year. They've had offensive struggles at times.

I wish Smith would let the 2 & 3rd level guys play more.. Those guys will be up next year & those lessons can only come on the varsity field.

For those backups, the NR running back proved to be allusive in the flats.. Of course, the key is to be there already but when you're too late, there ends up being a lot of diving missed takles! Then a blown coverage provided an easy score late.

The penalties were at a fairly acceptable level last night.
