Finally!!!

So, if I am reading into this correctly, only the finals would be held at VCU? For instance, Ridgeview girls played their quarterfinal at UVA-Wise and semis and finals at VCU. If this system was in place this year, Ridgeview would have played their semi at UVa-Wise as well?

I am not quite sure about the semi's that may depend on the higher seeds location but yes last year Ridgeview would likely have never traveled east until the championship. Instead of playing the semifinals and finals at VCU the finals would be the only games played there on Thurs, Fri, and Sat and starting later in the afternoon. Trying to boost attendance, still likely to clear the place and charge you twice to see some games, they are a greedy bunch of S@Bz. The qtrs and semis will be played at the "supersites" all in the same week prior to the finals. I'm sure someone will wind up traveling 6hrs to play a qtrfinal or semifinal game. VCU is still a supersite so some teams will get more playing time in the qtrs and semi's.

VHSL is bad with every sport most of the time, but for basketball, they are lost in the woods when it comes to scheduling state tournaments. Playing at 10:00 a.m. was beyond stupid. For weekday games, none should start before 6 p.m. How does VHSL think people can get off work to attend day games during the week ? Pick a good centralized venue and play at a reasonable hour. Common sense should be part of VHSL Hand-Book.

"Common sense" and the VHSL are terms that really don't go together. And HR6 is right - no more day games! I can't see too many employers being very happy when over half their labor force takes a day off to go see the local high school team play out-of-town.

I believe that this is perhaps the best solution for the basketball finals that I have seen them propose. Hopefully, now they will move the AA finals game from that idiotic 9 pm time-slot.
