I must say this game did not play out as I expected based on the hype I had heard. On a general note, the defenses for both teams outperformed their own team's offense, with Freedom's defense playing exceptionally well. I saw Freedom play LCA early in the season and they looked considerably better today. Freedom won the game behind the running of Brown, who probably touched the ball on 80-85% of his team's plays. Brown only scored once, but his running was instrumental in the Freedom win and was a nice complement to the excellent Freedom defense that contained Woodbridge all game long. On a negative note, the game also had some undisciplined play and far too many flags for teams of this caliber.

Freedom started the game on their own 27 yard line and went 73 yards for the game's first score, overcoming a fumble on a 4th and 1 play at the WB 36 yard line to get a two yard gain, and scored when Brown ran it in from 6 yards out. FR was up, 7-0 (Sow XP) with 8:50 remaining in the first quarter. Woodbridge failed to cleanly handle the ensuing KO and after almost losing the ball started their first drive on their own 10 yard line. After several plays, WB's QB Jackson dropped back to pass. The pass was tipped into the air and FR's Surratt made a diving INT at the WB 28 yard line. On FR's possession, FR called a screen pass two plays into the drive but Powell's pass was low over the oncoming linemen and WB's Matthews tipped the ball to himself and rumbled all the way to the FR 16 yard line before he was tackled. WB drove the ball to the one yard line where they had first and goal, but then had a short run for a loss, a fumble that cost them 5 yards, and a run for no gain. Facing 4th and goal from the 6 yard line, Jackson dropped back to pass. With no one open and the left side suddenly clear, he ran it in to tie the game, 7-7 (XP, #34), with 3:33 to play in the first quarter. FR then started their possession on their own 32 yard line and advanced to the WB 22 yard line where they faced a 4th and 6, but the pass bounced off the hands of an open receiver and WB took over. Unable to gain ground, WB punted from their own 27 yard line but pressure forced the punter to hit the ball high where it was caught in the wind. When it came down, it bounced back towards the WB goal line and was downed just inside the WB 27 for a net loss of about half a yard on the play. FR would again score, again facing a 4th down on the drive, when they scored on 15 yard Powell to Person pass. FR was back in the lead, 14-7 (Sow XP) with 3:32 remaining in the half. Woodbridge went three and out on their next possession and punted from deep in their own end, with FR fielding the ball at their own 45 yard line and returning it to the WB 20 yard line to set up a third excellent scoring opportunity. However, after a penalty, two runs for a loss, and an incomplete pass FR again faced a 4th down, this time 4th and 15 from the WB 30 yard line, where the pass fell incomplete. Half time, FR up 14-7.

Woodbridge started the 2nd half on their own 18 yard line after again failing to field a KO cleanly. They promptly went three and out to give FR the ball back on the FR 45 yard line. Freedom marched downfield to inside the WB 10 yard line before a handoff to Brown was fumbled and WB's Ampong recovered the ball on the WB 6 yard line to kill the FR drive. Pinned deep, WB lost yardage on consecutive plays and then with a penalty for half the distance to the goal they found themselves just inside the two yard line. As Jackson dropped back to pass he faced heavy pressure and threw the ball away for an intentional grounding in the end zone, resulting in a safety. 16-7, FR, 7:45 to play in the 3rd quarter. After taking the kick from WB, FR again had good field position, this time on their own 44 yard line. They drove to the WB 10 yard line and had first and goal before things went wrong and FR soon found themselves facing 4th and goal from the 33 yard line. A deep Powell pass into the end zone resulted in an INT by WB's Parham and WB took over on their 20 yard line (end of 3rd quarter). On this WB possession they moved to the FR 41 yard line where they faced a 4th and 4, but Jackson was sacked and FR took over on the FR 45 yard line. This time they methodically drove the 55 yards and scored when Powell found Person again, this time for a 29 yard passing TD. FR was now up 23-7 (Sow XP) with 6:29 to play. The FR KO went into the end zone and WB started their next possession at their own 20 yard line. Soon after, the WB running back was held up in a scrum and FR's Surratt ripped the ball away and ran untouched 15 yards to the end zone to extend the FR lead to 30-7 (Sow XP) with 5:45 to play. After an unsuccessful WB drive that took most of the remaining time, FR took a final snap and the game was over.

Note: I did not a have program and I am using internet rosters, so if I got some names wrong I apologize.
