I probably won't try to do this every night that we have four Shenandoah games on tap, but I just have the free time, so here is my take on tonight's games. I would say we have two no-brainers and two potential toss-ups on the docket.

Luray at East Rock: Should be a name-the-score kind of evening for the home team. I read about Nickell scoring 43 points the other night at Wilson. He is some kind of a phenomenal player, as if they needed another one. Eagles should be VCU-bound in March, assuming the playoffs are still there.

Wilson at Buffalo Gap: This one could be close for a while but the cream will rise to the top. The Bison lost at Stonewall Wednesday which might make them mad tonight, but Wilson has enough talent to reel them in. The visitors by about 15 I will say.

Which brings me to the two toss-ups........

Riverheads at Page: Each of these teams has had kind of a Jekyll and Hyde season, so it may be a matter of which teams show up. If Page is the team tonight that came within five of East Rock and beat Wilson by double digits in Fishersville, then the Big Red will have a long bus ride back home. But then compare RHS' one-point win over Lee to the Panthers' 42 point blowout loss to those same Leemen, and you have to like Riverheads' chances tonight. If RHS can keep the tempo down into the 40s or 50s they might have the edge, but I am not sure they can hang with Page in a run and gun game.

Lee at Stuarts Draft: Same thing applies here. Will Lee be the same team that blew Page out of the gym or the one that lost at RHS?; and will the Cougars be the same team that has hit 100 three times already or the one that lost at Wilson, lost at Waynesboro, and has been held down into the 50s and 60s more than usual?

Good luck everyone. Other than hoping for a Big Red victory, my secondary goals will be to find $1.25 gas at that Exxon right outside H'burg and for the bar b q to be as good as usual at Log Cabin!

Lee is in Region B also. I would say East Rock should be a lock for one state bid out of Region B. Then...it's a log jam of who could get that second bid. R.E. Lee, Wilson Memorial, Stuarts Draft, Central-Woodstock, and maybe a couple others.

ER's super freshman Nickel had 43 the other night? I've seen him twice and he plays much more mature than most freshmen.

I wish Tyler could have come up with 43 last night! We traveled to WV to play Mussleman and ended up losing by 5 in a low scoring, very physical battle. They don't call fouls in WV without blood showing and our boys took a beating. We jumped out to a 20 to 10 lead early then the Applemen fought back to take the lead. When I say fought back I mean that almost literally.

Hopefully this lesson in physicality will only help to strengthen our resolve as we move towards post season.

That is shocking. Of course none of us would know much about Musselman but East Rock has just looked so invincible all season. Of course what a weird game to schedule in the first place. Distance wise I mean.

Did Musselman have the same height to challenge the Eagles or did they have other strengths? Any injuries or foul trouble that contributed to the loss?
