Watched Hopewell play many times this year and they play a variety of defenses and they also press at times. They've athletes and are long 6'7,6'4,6'10. And also go inside and shoot the three well. Pressing them doesn't work because there guards are very good at breaking the press And are excellent ball handlers. Lake Taylor also have athletes and quickness so we'll see what happens anything can happen on any given night.NK's good and I like watching them play...however, it's hard for me to completely respect them when they press the entire game with a big lead...other teams do it, as well, which is sad...comes down to poor coaching. They're having their best season in a long time, but I don't see them getting past a Lake Taylor or Hopewell...we'll see what happens.
I agree. The x factor Hopewell will be 6'10 jordan, he stating to play like he's 6'10 and if he continues to play well they'll be tough to beat. The only way I see NK pressing the whole game is if they can run with Hopewell or LT. Both teams like to run so I wouldn’t advise it if you don’t have enough dogs. The number 1 thing I’m curious to see is NK living and dying with the 3 ball that won’t be smart ask Varina (4-20) to Hopewell (7/18)
Sounds like Hopewell will be tough to beat...NK doesn't really have any size...they have a player named Diggs that's aggressive and physical, but he's only 6'3"...should they play, the Trojans might need a record night from 3 to have a chance, frankly.Watched Hopewell play many times this year and they play a variety of defenses and they also press at times. Shooting the 3 is a huge part of their game, so don't expect that to change...they're undersized, but scrappy and relatively quick...even though I think they press too much at times, they're good at it, which leads to steals and easy baskets...that said, I don't think they have the depth to keep pace with a Hopewell or LT for an entire game. The only way I see NK pressing the whole game is if they can run with Hopewell or LT. No idea what the points look like currently, but if NK goes undefeated, or even with one loss, they "might" be able to pull off the #1 seed in the region...it will be close, though, 'cause I think Hopewell and LT play more class 4 and 5 schools, which would give them more points. The seeding in class 3A will play a huge factor. Does anyone know what the current points is? It's not like football where the points are readily available
3A point system:Yes right now looking at the points early Lake Taylor would be 1 Hopewell 2 and if I'm not mistaken either I.C. Norcom or New Kent are 3 and 4 at this point but. there are at least 5 games left so that will change a little depending on who wins and loses. Hopewell last game is against Highland springs and Lake Taylor plays Muray to very good team. So we'll see what happens.
I agree to an extent. However, home court advantage is important. No more Scope this year. Higher seeds host.Really it doesn't matter the best team will win regardless we're they are seeded in my opinion.
The 1 seed will mean a ton in this region, ESPECIALLY for New Kent, meaning their state qualifying semifinal game won’t be against Hopewell or Lake Taylor, both teams who would be favored over them by Vegas. They’ll still have to play one of them in the region ship in theory but at least then their state ticket is punched. Crazy that LT and Hopewell might have to play in the semis of regionals…two of the five best teams in C3 overall and are probably the two teams with the best shot to beat Northside.
In regard to the point system mentioned above, how is it fair to beat a horrible C3 team and get 7 points, then lose to a great C3 team and get 0 points? I can understand being rewarded for winning, but that's too much of a disparity, and exactly why lower seeds beat higher seeds on a regular basis in the post season. I understand that there's no perfect solution, but there has to be a better way of doing this....3A point system:
7 points per win regardless of your opponent's classification
Loss to a 0,1,2,3 classification is 0 points
Loss to a 4 is 1 point
Loss to a 5 is 2 points
Loss to a 6 is 3 points
New Kent will end up the 1 seed in my opinion. Hopewell 2, and LT 3.
