Fork Union evened their record to 3-3 with a 26-14 home win over St Christophers. Senior Adisa Gitten-Smith scored a touchdown and setup two more with big runs and he also made a key interception to stop the Saints final drive.
The teams traded touchdowns in the first half with St Christopher's sophomore receiver Justin Jasper hauling in a 3-yard touchdown pass and Fork Union's Taurus Carroll taking in a pass from Chris Basso. Fork Union took the lead just before the end of the half with a 5-yard run by Iosefa Puaauli after Gitten-Smith burst through the Saints defense for a 46-yard run.
Gitten-Smith added two more long runs and pounded his way in the endzone on a 7-yard run with 1:23 to go in the 3rd quarter.
St Christopher's put together a nice drive including two passes from Jeb Bemiss to Sam Cain which setup a 1st-and-10 from the Blue Devils 15-yard line. A 3-yard run by Charlie De Venoge cut the deficit to 20-14 with six minutes to go.
Just when the momentum seem to swing in St Christopher's direction, Gitten-Smith broke free once again for a 54-yard run down to the 1-yard line James Armstrong scored from 1-yard out to make the score 26-14 with 2:53 to go in the game. Gitten-Smith ended his afternoon by picking off a pass from Bemiss after a sack by Michael Harper.
Both teams were missing star players as St Christopher's was without lineman Tazle Sumpter, a University of Richmond recruit, and Fork union was without the services of sophomore Adam Hackenberg.
