Hope Brent Roberts is Happy that he's destroyed GC Football. Get ride of Housewright and then hire this bunch of coaches. GC be good to win 1 game this yr.

It's a scrimmage, GC will be fine. The line played well. Both teams appeared to be working on the passing game.

Gosh John Madden. First of all, I didn't realize the VP made hiring decisions. So, don't be blaming him.
Second, I hope these kids have support instead of all of the negativity from a so called "fan."

It is a very sad situation when a “so called Gate City Fan” would post such a comment this early in the season. OK, Gate City may not have the speed and play makers other teams are blessed with but they do have hardworking, disciplined, tough and well-coached kids. Their kids and new coaches deserve support not this type of unwarranted criticism. They have had one scrimmage and a benefit game. Remember these are just scrimmages. Gate City did well against a larger 4A Tennessee school rotating different players through out the scrimmage with an outcome of 34-7. Then they held their own against a very talented Graham squad during a benefit game with a final outcome of 14-7. In the Graham benefit game, Gate City’s line play and inside run game looked very good. Yes, they will have to work on their passing game but they did rotate their first team quarterbacks. Gate City just does not have the speed to stay with Graham’s skill players. However, most teams in 2-A will not be able to match up with Graham’s talent either and they are predicted to be one of the best teams in the state. When the reserves came in during the fourth quarter they continued to be hardworking, disciplined, tough and well-coached and finally scored. It is much appreciated that a Graham fan would say positive comments about the Gate City team when “Big Blue Cannon Ball” is so sarcastic. Sound like a person with “sour grapes” to me.

Rome wasn't built in a day. GC had a great run for several years and was loaded with talent. All good things usually come to an end....and it finally did. GC is rebuilding and going through a regime change. The Devils won't be down for long. The Blue Devils are as disciplined right now as they have been in years....they just don't have the difference makers at the skill positions like they usually do. If they did they would be a threat this year like they have been in the past.

I for one think it was a good decision to clean house with the coaching staff and start with a clean slate. There was bad blood in the field house......and it would take Ray Charles to not notice it. Houseright didn't get the head coach gig and he wasnt happy about it which is understood..... and yet he was retained. The players were probably as divided as the feelings between the coaches.

Also....Not sure if anyone noticed, but the number of kids coming out for GC football each year had been dwindling for the past few years. When Akers and the staff rights the ship, the talented kids will again be pulled from the hallways and will make their way to the football field. this happens at every school at some point....not just GC.

My comments was toward Brent Roberts and how he destroyed GC Football. As far as the Tennessee school, Volunteer high school hasnt won anything since that school was formed. Against Graham, they scored with 1 min left, 2nd and 3rd strings against each other. I go to every game, i have for years, and i know what im talking about. Roberts has destroyed GC, he wanted Housewright out, and he got what he wanted. Now, tge kids are suffering. Housewright would take this team tio a 8-9 win season, Akers will maybe win 1-2 games this year
