A budding group, mostly sophomores, is gaining plenty of experience at William Campbell.

The Generals (7-4), in the midst of their eighth-straight playoff run, held on for a three-point victory against Central Lunenburg on Friday and now prepare for a rematch of last year’s second-round loss at Riverheads.

The Gladiators (10-1) are the defending Class 1 state champs and the Region 1B No. 1 seed.

Whether Campbell completes the upset or not, its strong sophomore class — which includes standouts like quarterback Jermiah Smith, 6-foot-3 defensive end Zekeya Townes, receiver/running back Chris Boyd and a playmaker-to-watch in running back Junior Solorio — will come away knowing what it takes to compete in the postseason.
