Giles was supposed to scrimmage Bluefield High, WV, (defending AA state champions) last night. I don't know if it was a scrimmage, foundation game, or whatever one wishes to call it. I haven't seen any results. Does anyone have anything on this? I recall last year that Giles slightly got the best of Bluefield High last year in a scrimmage, and of course Bluefield went on to go undefeated and win the state title. I'm curious as to how Giles looked?

After seeing Giles in game like conditions this is going to be a rough year for the Spartans. I'm thinking 7-3 would be a good season for this young team. Having a huge line is nice but I don't see the speed needed to run the single wing efficiently.

Benefit game - Blfd 51- Giles 13

Still early- bluefield is good

Bluefield was 14-0 last year & won the state championship in WV. They lost current Marshall University RB Mookie Collier - the Kennedy Award winner (which is the player of the year for A,AA,&AAA) & Truck Edwards who is now playing for the Pitt Panthers..... and they very well may be better this year than last year.

Sounds like a good measuring stick for Graham. That is who plays next week correct?

Seen Graham on the short list of favorites for the upcoming season, and dont know what the competition is in WVA, I read on 4a board that Martinsburg isnt really all that good, they just look good because of competition. But if an undefeated reigning champion is better this year, and Graham wins or keeps it close then that might persuade some people, especially ones like me who know little about the teams in the area

Graham does play Bluefield next week. The game will be broadcast live for free on www.greatamericarivalryseries.com

Overall WV competition is no where near VA, but the top 3-4 teams in WV could usually play with the top 8 teams in VA. Bluefield “should” repeat as state champs this year so if graham can keep it close it’ll mean a lot
