I mean no disrespect to PM as I know nothing about their basketball programs but....

These PM girls basketball scores are a joke. Far from being impressed, it is the opposite for me.

Every game they win by 40+ points, often they win by over like 60 points.

Play some competition. Put somebody strong on the schedule.

Maybe PM is just unbelievably awesome? or are these teams they are playing just completely horrendous?...

While the West often does win big in girls basketball, I do hope one of the Eastern Va teams like Lancaster (11-0) can give PM a game later on....

They have to play them since they're in the same district. Unless the rules are different for basketball than they are for football(?)

All I can state are the facts - Parry McCluer was a VERY good team last season - and they were VERY young as well.

On top of that they won the 1A State Championship last season with a 29-2 record - with very close victories over Surry (51-48) in the semis, and then got revenge for their regional finals loss to George Wythe with a 34-29 win in the state final.

Most of their games last season were blow outs as well - but the games got a lot closer in the post season.

Everyone knew they would be VERY good this year, and they haven't disappointed.

They've only lost one game - very first game of the season @ traditional 2A power Floyd County 66-62 in OT, but got revenge in the rematch win a 22 point win - they also defeated a very good 2A Martinsville team 58-40 - so they are no fluke by any means.

Those are the only two games that were even close so far this season - granted some of the teams on their schedule are not very strong, but you play who's on your schedule.

They have only 2 seniors on the team, as they are a junior dominated team.

In addition, they are currently the top ranked team in 1A in Virginia.

It will be interesting to see how the season continues to play out for the Fighting Lady Blues.

Look for teams like Eastside, Honaker, Surry, Lancaster to give them a run for their money post-season - and possibly teams like Galax and Rappahannock.

While I can understand your comments, you have to understand you can't pick your district. Yes, they are putting up lots of points against some inferior opponents but they have also beaten Floyd who is always a contender in 2a they will play Lord Boutetout at the Rock the Ribbon at Rockbridge. All you can do is play who is in front of you. Also they are the defending champs so maybe, just maybe they are that damn good. I hope your eastern teams can compete this year as well. From what I've seen of the west so far PM should be in good shape. But, alot of games still to be played. #ifeelarepeatactuallya3peat

Thanks for the details. Did not mean to take away from the PM girls' great success.

I do not follow girls' b-ball that closely but do know the West's best teams often whip the East ones. It does sound like the PM girls are heavy favorites to repeat or is it 3 peat?

Come to think of it, I have read that this a problem in Girls Basketball all over the country (the massive point spreads of the final outcomes and huge disparity in talented teams having a tough time finding other strong teams to play). Maybe it was in Texas recently that this issue became a national sports story?

Then again, look at college ball - Connecticut has few programs that can even compete with it.

Good luck. I'm sure that the girls want some challenges to get ready for late in the playoffs...

Pm is very very good and well coached...very disiplined...their starting 5 is strong and their subs that they bring in can start for anyone in 1a or even higher..PM girls basketball is really blessed right now..

Pm seems to be dominant and well coached the blow out scores are still a wow! I’m sure the rest of the schedule games will look the same me personally I don’t see nothing wrong with blowouts the whole team can get in and get some playing time but I wonder how they will react with a close game till they end...

I haven’t seen pm play this year or last year just heard so much about them it’s a good thing when your area high school teams are On the winning side good luck at state
