Union 53, Wise County Central 48

Heather Lipps scored seven of her 20 points in the fourth quarter as Union overpowered previously unbeaten Wise County Central in a Mountain 7 District clash.

Central (13-1, 14-1) saw its 17-game winning streak snapped and lost for the first time since a regional tournament setback to Martinsville on Feb. 24, 2017. The loss also means there are no longer any unbeaten squads left in far Southwest Virginia.

Ashley Chester added 11 points for the Bears (7-4, 2-2), who led 35-27 after three quarters and held on down the stretch.

Gracie Mullins scored 24 points, accounting for half of Central’s total. The Warriors were just 3-for-12 from the free throw line.
