Wise County Central girls push past Wolfpack
The Wise County Central girls basketball squad continues to find a way to navigate through the Mountain 7 District gauntlet.
Turning aside a challenge Monday from Ridgeview, the Warriors used a strong final quarter to nab a 40-32 victory over the Wolfpack.
Brook Porter paced Wise County Central (19-1, 9-1) with 15 points and Olivia Mullins added 12. Dee Cvetnich chipped in with eight points and 12 rebounds for the defending state champions, who pulled away in the fourth quarter after leading by just two points at the end of the second and third periods.
Bailey Frazier led Ridgeview with 19 points.
Wise County Central will try to avenge its only loss of the season tonight against Union before taking on Abingdon in a showdown Friday between the top two teams in the league.
