Girls varsity only game went 67-15 in favor of RHS.
Boys JVs, playing at Bath, scored the first 19 points of the game and coasted to a 44-28 win.
Varsity boys placed all 11 guys in the scoring column and posted one of the biggest Riverheads margins of victory in recent memory with a 79-27 win over the Chargers. Noah Williams led the way with 18 points, mostly scored in the middle two quarters. Ryan Farris and Levi Byer also scored in double figures with 14 and 10 respectively. Four other guys scored between 6 and 8 points in the well-balanced win. Three pointers were not needed very much tonight as the vast majority of the Big Red points were scored on steals or putbacks. Bennett Dunlap hit two threes and 7 total points, Carter Mooneyham had one three among his seven points, and Ty Morris, seeing his first action of the season stroked a triple on his very first shot of the night and finished with six total points. Landon Lightner, recently named to the All State football team, scored eight points inside to account for the Big Red's major scorers of the game.
The Gladiators will be back in action Thursday night when they host a horse of a different color in the Parry McCluer Fighting Blues. RHS has some decent size but nothing that can compare to Hamilton so it will be interesting to see how that one works out. The Lady Gladiators get in one last game before Christmas when they host Rockbridge Wednesday night. Both teams then have games non-district games on the 28th, followed by their district openers on the 30th, both against Fort Defiance.
No rest for the weary!!!!
