After Friday's emotional extra-inning win over Wilson, today's home game with Stonewall was so quiet and methodical that you could have sat in the stands and read the newspaper and not missed much. The Gladiators scored runs in four different innings, highlighted by a three-run homer by Ridge Stokes in the 5th that doubled a 3-0 lead and put the Big Red ahead 6-0. It was the second Tuesday in a row in which he drove in three RBIs with just one swing of the bat.

On the mound, Colt Miller handcuffed the Generals with a strong six-inning performance. He also helped his own cause by blasting a double in each of his first two at-bats. Keegan Oliver also had a nice day at the plate and Bradley Roberts laid down one of the most beautiful bunts you would ever want to see. Perhaps the best news of all was that the wind that wreaked havoc with last week's win over Page was nowhere to be found today.

Miller did not give up any runs and his 7th inning replacement, Austin Craft, almost preserved the shut-out until a throwing error with two outs allowed the Generals to get on the board. The win moves the Gladiators to 10-1 on the season and they have two more games this week with Luray visiting Thursday and county rival Stuarts Draft on Friday.

I will have at least a brief report on the Luray game, but will be missing the Draft affair, so maybe someone else can fill us in. Both will be big games in the Gladiators' drive toward a high playoff seed.
