Riverheads posted a second straight shut-out Thursday as the Big Red banged out about a dozen hits and posted a solid 9-0 win over county rival Wilson in a game that had been rained out earlier in the season. After getting only three hits the entire game in Tuesday's 3-0 win over Page, the Gladiators got that many this time from their first three batters as they tallied three runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back. Ethan Whitehead, Zach Roberts, and Chase Armstrong each reached safely off Wilson starter Isaac Hummel and came around to score as the home team took the early advantage.

RHS added a single tally in the fifth and then more than doubled the score with a five-run explosion in the 6th, highlighted by a two-run double by Taz Miller. While he was getting the job done behind the plate and with the bat, twin brother Colt picked up the win, keeping the Hornets completely at bay for the first six innings. Unfortunately he (Colt) was unable to go the distance as he took a hard shot to the shin before throwing out the final batter in the sixth and was unable to return to the game. Ethan Whitehead came on in the 7th to preserve the victory.

In their final at-bat, the Hornets mounted their most serious threat of the game as they loaded the bases with two outs before Whitehead induced a fly-out to center field to give the Big Red the well-deserved shut-out. The two teams will now complete their season series as they meet again on Wilson's field Friday at 5:30.
