Giles seems to be surging and much better than at the beginning of the season. Glad to see the Giles of old returning to form. What are my Giles friends predictions for this game?

Giles is really improved and has confidence. Glenvar in this game might be better served by putting it in the air as often as possible. Giles run D has really come around, but their strong point is Not their pass defense. Teams like North Cross and even James River had some success in the air. I expect to see Glenvar passing the ball quite a bit in this game.

Glenvar too big up front, both sides of the ball. Giles is small and will struggle. Glenvar got key guys banged up last night. That could be a factor

After the first drive James River did near nothing in the air...we put constant pressure on the QB

Glenvar' injuries are a major concern for sure. The good news for Glenvar is that their strength is they play well as a team, so next man up. We will see if that is good enough.

I think Giles will put up a better fight than years past but Glenvar is likely going to win at the LOS with their size. They are also well coached and disciplined. Giles jumped on Glenvar early last season but as soon as the Highlanders started airing it out, they blew us away. Could see a similarity on Friday especially if #1 is healthy enough to play. I don’t think anyone on our D can keep up with that little guy. Hopefully both teams escape without an injury and can be at full health going into the playoffs.

Just heard 6 Giles starters were sent home today to quarantine and won't be available for Friday's game. Without these 6 guys, it will probably get ugly.

Apparently there may be more than just 6 and a possibility of this game not being played. I’ll update if I hear anything else.

Not getting into a vaccine debate. I'm for choice and people doing what they want to do, vax or no vax. I'm just this though, if you get the vax and you get exposed to someone with Covid, you do not have to quarantine. This is the CDC policy and to my knowledge, the schools have adopted CDC policy, so.....if vax'd, No 6 players out. Not vax'd, 6 players Are out.

Sooner or later, some other team will get caught come playoff time and their season will effectively end. It's a matter of time. If your a team that feels you have a real shot at a state title like Appo, Graham, King William, Draft, Nottoway, etc, you probably want to do one of two things in the next month.

1. Stay the he** away from everybody. This means if your a football player, you wear a mask and you don't let any student in class get within 6 feet of you, and outside of school and practice, stay the he** away from all humans.

2. Get vax'd.

For kids of teams who don't follow the above rules over the next month, your season ends. I guarantee you, there will be at least one team that gets caught, and their season will end.

Mask and 6 feet wont work if your looking to not catch the virus. It's only a good precaution and thats all it is.

Not even touching that with a ten foot Political pole. What I'm saying is, do not put yourself in a situation where it counts as an exposure. I'm not arguing how you catch the virus, what prevents it, what might not prevent it, whether masks work, etc. I'm arguing the following......

Kid who doesn't play football is in the science lab and he hasn't felt well all day, but he chooses not to say a word until about 2pm in which his temperature is now 101 and he's coughing, and he didn't feel the need to tell other students to stay away from him. If you are a football player and they start the Covid Tracing, you don't want to be in that lineup. You want to ensure that you have stayed the heck away and you went beyond even a normal mask, you wore an N95 (again, not arguing whether it works or not) but you at least put yourself in a situation where you are NOT one of the one's considered as "exposed." Exposed means you go home, don't play football, and quarantine.

There is a lot of variance as to what counts or what qualifies as an "exposure." There are some steps football players can take to greately decrease their chances of being counted as an exposure.

Stop the testing. It's pointless. If you want the vax, get it. If you dont want it, dont get it. If the vax is "so great and effective" then there is no need for the vaxxed to be worried, right? And the ones who are not vaxxed are assuming the supposed "risks", right?

Simple as that. Time to move on with life.

So very sorry. Was looking forward to a competitive game on Friday. Glenvar had some players dinged up against Radford, but fortunately they are going to be fine. Hope the game is played. At least it will give Glenvar's and Giles' backups a chance to play.

I think it will be played. We’ll just have some inexperienced guys out there. I don’t want Giles to go two weeks without playing a game before playoffs.

I agree with you mmqp completely on the testing. But again, the problem is THE OTHER person who doesn't play football that gets tested. Kid A who doesn't play football goes to school, feels like crap all day, doesn't tell one person, then at 2pm, he gets a conscience and tells the staff and his parents he feels bad and has a fever of 101. What does mom and dad do? Straight to the ER, and what does the ER do? Test. After that + test, the tracing starts, now the football players who have been around that kid who HAVE not had the vax have to test in order to be cleared to play again. If you have had the vax, it doesn't matter when contact tracing comes around and whether you have been exposed, you are exempt and can go straight to practice

Lets put aside, just for example, any risk, benefit, etc., related to getting sick or dying, or not getting sick or not dying from Covid. Put that aside. The Risk as it relates to football and shutting a team down is for the one's that aren't vax'd, if they find themselves in a situation described above, they are done for 2 weeks, just like that, that fast. So, the problem (as it relates strictly to football, not talking about getting sick or anything) but as it relates to football, the problem is the Kid who doesn't play that goes to school sick, which can quickly indirectly Force a kid on the football team who hasn't been vaxd to get a test. Well, the kid on the team has to get the test, if he's counted as "exposed" , if he wants to play again.

So again, emphasis on football players who aren't vax'd. STAY AWAY from other HUMANS in school. Alway, 100% of the time, 6 feet apart, because you do not want to be involved with, and counted as an "exposure" when Covid Tracing occurs due to some other kid who doesn't play comes to school with the virus.

As it relates to your point about the kids who are vax'd who have nothing to worry about. Again, taking Covid and risk of getting sick, not getting sick OFF the table) and talking about "nothing to worry about" as it relates to football, that is correct, they truly don't have anything to worry about if they are considered "exposed" to some other kid at school who has Covid. They can go straight to practice and do not need to quarantine, and they only require a test taken in 5 days, but in the 5 day duration from exposure until test day, they can go to school, practice, play ball, and continue to play as long as the test is negative at the 5 day mark, so essentially, they don't miss one day of school or practice or a game. So, as it relates to Football (not talking about effectiveness of a vaccine or this or that) but relating strictly to football and CDC rules, they truly have nothing to worry about. They will not be missing any practice or games.

I think Giles is kind of fortunate. Better this happened now, and you get all the kids back for the first game of the playoff and they button down the hatch on distancing. Kind of a break for Giles, if you consider the fact this could have happened 2 weeks in the future.

Exactly right...better now than later

Why is moving the game to Sat. @1pm which is only 18 hours later, going to make a hill of beans difference from playing Friday night?

If that helps, great. I'm all for it although I can't be there now.
I think some of the guys had to quarantine through Friday. Can play Saturday although haven't practiced all week. I haven't heard for sure, but I'm guessing it's last home regular season game, so senior night introductions. I know a few of the guys quarantined are seniors.

Glenvar over Giles 54 to 6. Looks like Giles could not get a break, Glenvar dominated 2nd half.

Giles gave em hell the first half. I figured Glenvar would pull away but did not expect them to score 42 points in the second half. Glenvar doesn’t do anything fancy, they are just well coached and execute well and have great size on the line.

Yes like he said, OBEY YOUR MASTER.

After that first play, I had nightmares going through my head back to all the years before 2014 when we couldn't stop the single wing. Glenvar now has a very consistently good program year in and year out thanks to Coach Clifford and the other coaches.

I thought this would be a rebuilding year after losing most of the line to graduation, but this group looks pretty good and I thought our line was the main reason we won today. Just too big and too strong for Giles to handle. Good luck to Giles in the playoffs. I always root for Giles unless playing Glenvar. Class program.

Very fortunate! Graham had a JV player test positive and varsity & JV had to quarantine going into the playoffs. Two days practice going into Union game. I hope no team has to contend with it and get knocked out of the playoffs this time around.

Well said. After that first play of the game Glenvar done a fantastic job at adjusting. I don’t think we crossed midfield but maybe once after that. You can see just how good of a weight training program y’all have where as ours is non-existent. Having watched Appo and Graham play I do think Glenvar will be outmatched if they play one of them two but they could definitely keep it interesting for awhile because of how well coached they are.

Good luck to you guys also...have talked to Clifford before and he seems like a good dude...and a hell of a coach also
