Skyline committed too many turnovers and Goochland made them pay as the Bulldogs defeated the Hawks 35-22 in Front Royal.

Goochland turned it over on downs 9n their first two possessions and punted on their third, but still got on the board first when Nikolai Cotner got a pick 6 to put Goochland up 7-0 early in the 2nd quarter.

On Skyline's next possession, they again were victim to an interception, this time it was Matthew Martin, who returned it to the Skyline 19. Goochland took advantage of the short field and Blayke Flaherty scored on a 1 yard QB sneak to put the Bulldogs up 14-0.

Thr Hawks were able to get on the scoreboard late in the first half when Aidan Vaught returned a punt about 70 yards for a touchdown with 49 seconds left in the half.

Trailing 14-7 to start the third quarter, the Hawks had a strong drive going, but eventually stalled at the Bulldog 21 and turned it over on downs.

It only took Goochlamd 3 plays to extend their lead as Jamason Pryor ran it up the middle 78 yards for a touchdown to put Goochland up 21-7.

The Hawks again had a long drive, but it stalled at the 25. Pryor again busted a long run for 66 yards, before Baraka Ganyuma ran it in from 9 yards out to increase the lead to 28-7 early in the 4th quarter.

But the Hawks came storming back. Vaught finished a six play drive off with a 36 yard TD run, cutting the Bulldog lead to 28-15 with 10:05 remaining.(2 pt conversion pass from Funk to Lambert.)

Then the Hawks executed a successful pooch onside kick down the far sideline. 3 plays later, Vaught ran it in from 11 yards out, and the 21 point lead was cut to 6.

Skyline then forced a punt, but fumbled a snap deep in their territory leading to the insurance score by Goochland(Pryor again) to seal the 35-22 victory.

Aidan Vaught rushed for 232 yards and had 3 xcores for the Hawks.

Jamason Pryor ran for 199 yards for the Bulldogs.

Both teams combined for 1 completion for 0 yards.

All stats ridiculously unofficial.
