Any opinions?

Grayson may be the hottest team in VA over the last 3-4 weeks, beating George Wythe, Galax, and Ridgeview in what most people would consider upsets. Graham has won 10 in a row since the week 1 loss to Bluefield where they fumbled on Bluefield's 1 yard line with 30 seconds to go to lose 17-14.

Grayson came up with a big interception to seal the upset vs. Ridgeview in round 1. Graham handled John Battle 48-7 after causing 6 turnovers.

They've only played two like opponents this year (Marion & Fort Chiswell) but Graham and Grayson have played each other the last 6 regular seasons while Graham was in the MED, with the series tied at 3 wins a piece. It could make for a fun Friday night in Bluefield, WV.

Graham seems to come up with big plays when they have to, several teams have played toe to toe with them at times, and graham has let several teams get back into games after being down by several TD’s (Giles comes to mind). I’ve noticed Graham’s play are somewhat predictable, spread the defense out with 3 or 4 receivers then Allen takes a shotgun snap and runs off tackle. He’s extremely shifty with deceptive speed, so this has worked most of the time. Bubble screens also are very common, but have worked so far, Graham’s strength is their speed. If Grayson can control the LOS and shut down the QB draws and quick out passes then we could very well have us a ballgame.

Grayson County has played way above their talent level the past two weeks, especially against Galax. Plus from the game film they got a tremendous amount of home cooking from the refs in the Galax game. If that was not the case they would of lost by several touchdowns to Galax. As for the Ridgeview game, alot of things went their way late.
I just don't see Grayson being able to pull it off three weeks in a row.

Graham has multiple weapons to contend with. Their is a big difference in speed. Grayson has two outstanding wide teceivers, but Graham's defensive secondary is outstanding with Cooke, Allen and Lester. Graham swarms to the ball on defense and I don't think Grayson will be able to run effectively on Graham either. I'll say Graham 42- Grayson 14. Grahams speed will produce several big plays against Grayson. Can't key on one guy.

Pulling for Marion to pull the mild upset over Union to keep Graham at home over Thanksgiving Weekend.

Graham will win this game going away. Grayson want be able to defend the spread and the QB will run wild. To much speed and talent for Grayson to over come. G-Men by 21

Graham has a weakness in its not so special teams. If they have fixed this since the FC game, they shouldn’t have any problems with Grayson.

“Mild” upset? lol They haven’t been beaten on their home field by a SWVA team since a playoff game in 2013.... it’ll be a mild miracle if Marion pulls that off

Union isnt some undefeated juggernaut rolling teams right now and Marion is very good. Bears are favorites but most in the know wouldn't be totally shocked if Canes win.

I'm a Union fan and they do have a good team, but not a great team. Too much Mitchell. Richlands exposed that last week. I do hope that Qualls threw the ball 50 times a day at practice this week. They have some playmakers but have not used them. If they run the same offense Friday and Marion has a good defense the bears are in trouble. The Bears need to PASS the test this week.

Marion scored 0 offensive TDS against Grayson. Grayson played with Glenvar the whole first half in which Glenvar would not have scored without the interception . Did not watch the game but they beat Galax whose coach may just be the best in swva by far. Also watched the Hudl film Grayson held them to just over 200 yards rushing. Something no one else had been able to do. Also most of Galax penalties came from false starts which can easily be seen on he film. Not saying they will win the state or nothing but they are not the pushover everyone thinks they are.

The false starts wasn't what hurt Galax against Grayson. It was the ineligible Reciever call down field that called a TD back. Which didn't happen, the fumble on the punt return that the kid was down already. The pass interference call that was wrong, more I could name. It was honesty one of the worst called games I have ever seen.
Not to take away from anything Grayson did on their side of the ball. You can see in the film that Grayson played with alot of passion and the Galax team with zero. Those kids came to play that night. I honestly believe Galax players over looked them and Grayson played like it was there state championship. While coach Dixon has forgot more about football then most would ever hope to know, he ran a 50 defense against Grayson veer offense, and you never ever do that. It is an alignment nightmare. It keeps the a and b gaps open by alignment and with Grayson backs only two yards of the ball and as fast as they hit the holes it was a 4 yard gain each time they ran the A and B gap.

Glenvar fumbled the ball 4 times the first half if I Remember correctly and that kept it close.
I hope it is a close game but I just don't think they can handle the speed that they will see Friday night. While peoples is lightning fast, Galax does not try to get the edge like Graham does.

People's is fast, but he doesn't run a sub 4.4 40 like Taymon Cooke. And the previous poster is correct, Graham gets their speed to the edge and the QB is fast and elusive when he takes off running as well. Graham has found a couple of capable running backs in Lester and Mason since Reed went down to injury. They are good in all 3 phases, but have had some slip ups on special teams, but they have been working to get better in that area.

Like I said didn't watch the game but did watch Hudl film. So if my assumption is right your saying Dixon basically threw the game with the defense he played? Also didn't see the missed call. Grayson forced all the fumbles against at Glenvar. They played a real good first half. Adjustment at half killed Grayson. Still watching Hudl film on ridgeview they we're all quick little guys too. Watch out for their RB in a few years he's gonna be a monster. Just think everyone keeps looking past Grayson. Those boys play with alot of heart and as the last two games have proven the won't give up until the last whistle. Just think no one has given them enough credit for what they have done and keep saying they aren't any good.

Some people still underestimating Grayson. The film I've seen on them they remind me a little of Richlands although scores indicate their D is not as good but they swarm to the ball. If Cooke has a game like he did at Richlands this could get interesting. Pulling for the G-men though.

Wasn't trying to say Dixon threw the game on purpose. Just not sure what he was thinking running that D against a veer. From what I heard he even told his players he put them in a bad position and should of ran a 40 look. Which would of clogged those gaps and would of played more to Galax speed.
Again not taking g anything away from Grayson effort that night they played with everything to win.

Won't be able to go but would love to see an upset. Grayson is getting good at those as of late. Don't know what Grayson's coach dialed up on D for this game but they do really well against the bubble screens. One of their def ends has 4 picks and one for a TD. Also alot of batted balls. As for speed nee to keep #4 on Cooke with help of course but he's is fast as well. In my opinion if game is close near the end Grayson could win they have done it the last few games. But I'll get to see it on the Hudl regardless. Just pray for a good clean game with no injuries for either team.

Grayson is a better team than are giving credit for but I think Grahams speed may be to much for them to overcome but I also thought Ridgeview would handle them to. They keep finding ways to win games but If I was betting on the game I would definitely put my money on the Graham.

Graham 13- Grayson 0. 7:36 first. XP blocked. 2 play drive for Graham after 7 the forced turnover in 5 quarters.

Sounds like a great game next week with Union and Graham. Two juggernauts doing battle. By the looks of the scores tonight, both teams seem to be making a statement, and maybe peaking at the right time. Hopefully both teams finish up injury free for their second halves tonight with running clocks for both contests. Great show by both teams tonight.

Prayers needed for Graham's Michael Mason who appears to have suffered a serious injury.

Union 35 Marion 7 in second Qtr.... that mild upset doesn’t seem to be going well....

I'm from Big Stone, an unabashed Bears fan. The fact it was 42-7 at the half did not bother me in the least. Canes made a couple mistakes and Bears got rolling and never looked back. Ford's a good player, a very good runner, but Marion had nothing for Union at LOS and that surprised me after Richlands played Union so well.

Should be a great regional final. Graham is finally back to their winning ways. Interesting matchup of different styles. Was pulling for the upset so Graham could stay at home, but looking forward to the trip. Hoping for an injury free game and may the winner represent Region D well. Two very capable teams.
