Great Bridge 11 Lake Taylor 1
Great Bridge broke open a tight game scoring four runs in the fifth and putting the game away with five more in the seventh to defeat Lake Taylor 11-1. Great Bridge will take on Beach District champion Kellam in the Eastern Regional semi-finals. Charlie Cody went 2 for 3 with a homerun and Steven Dudley went 2 for 3 with an RBI as the Wildcats scored 11 runs on nine hits.

Great Bridge led only 2-0 heading into the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Austin Owens and a third inning homerun by Charlie Cody --his third homerun in the past four games. Owens doubled to score Cody and catcher Steven Dudley singled to left to score Taylor Lane for a 4-0 lead. The Wildcats sent 10 men to the plate in the seventh scoring five runs to put the game away.

Troy Jones kept Lake Taylor at bay until the Wildcats bats came alive. He pitched six innings and allow only three hits while striking out six to get his ninth win of the season. Lake Taylor had a chance to cut the lead to 2-1 in the third inning But senior Brian Beard gunned down a runner trying to score from third base with a perfect throw from the outfield to preserve the 2-run advantage.

Lake Taylor finally got on the scoreboard with a run in the sixth inning on an RBI single to left by Taylor Erby which scored Dustin Murray. Taylor finished with two his but took the loss after allowing five earned runs in 4.2 innings. Justin Erby relieved his brother and pitched the final 2.1 innings
