Gretna Radio...

I tried to listen to some of the game tonite but I couldn't. Apparently the radio station has a lady helping in the broadcast booth that has limited knowledge of football.
Ex:
(Gretna is on offense)
Announcer: Oh, there's a holding call that is going to negate the first down.
Lady Announcer: Who's the holding call on?
Announcer: Gretna
I mean really, I don't mind a female announcer, but please, have someone with
basic knowledge of the game. There were some other instances also.

i have no knowledge of whom the announcer is or how much she knows about football however she might have been asking which player not which team .

Does alot better job doing the games on radio than the Chatham radio announcers do. Oh that's right they don't have one. Seems Chatham has bigger problems than how the games are announced from what I seen Friday night.

I made an opinion about the announcer who obviously has no clue
and apparently I get an immature response. Oh, I shouldn't have expected
less. Chatham's football program is down kind of like Gretna's baseball program.

I like how when someone says something about Chatham's football team, the Chatham faithful have to change the sport and ask about that one

From what i saw of the Chatham football team on friday.I am not even sure they could beat any of the jv teams in the dogwood.I would say a record of 0 and 10 is a very could possibility.As far as the immature comment cav 22 is talking about, i guess when you have a football team like Chatham,you can't say anything positive so you have to go negative on the Gretna radio announcer whom is volunteering her time for free.My advice is if you can do any better, give it a try?You probably don't know the difference between a football and a soccer ball

lol...I said in my post Chatham's football is down. They do have a coach that I think will change the program IF they can get the kids out. And give me a smarta$$ answer and you'll get one back. My comment was legit, I've listened to games several times over the years on the station. Don't mind commentary but man....I'll just leave it here. And by the way, I'm county faithful, not just Chatham. I've been at Gretna games pulling for Gretna before. I've been to Dan River pulling for them (not Tunstall though so I guess I'm only partially county faithful...lol).
What happened to the other guy that use to broadcast? I actually liked listening to them go back and forth.
With that being said...good luck the rest of the season and hopefully Chatham will pull one or two out this year.
Also, cavfan is cause I'm a UVA fan....how about them Monarchs!!! wooooo!

I agree. Chatham is just down. Look at Gretna and also Altavista. Both have been on top and have slipped. Gretna seems to be pulling itself back up. Chatham will get better if their fans will be patient. So will Altavista.

Chatham football is down. Lol The only winning season I remember them having was in 2005. I said same thing Friday night but not about JV, they were all mostly on the game still scoring in second half.

That's funny, according to the paper the starters were still playing until midway thru the 4th quarter....must be fake news. There's been a few winning seasons prior to 05 and after. Ya'll just remember 05 cause they ended the winning streak Gretna had going.

I've heard Tunstall being referred to as the redheaded step-child of Pittsylvania county. I think it's funny. Why does everyone bash them so much? It's not a "special" school, is it?

I've heard Tunstall being referred to as the redheaded step-child of Pittsylvania county. I think it's funny. Why does everyone bash them so much? It's not a "special" school, is it?

Well, they think they're special. They're kind of the "snooty" part of the county...lol.

A fellow once told me:

1 Tunstall
2 Chatham
3 Dan River
4 Gretna

This was about 20 years ago, and included athletics, academics and facilities. In my opinion, when Jerry Webb was hired as Superintendent in mid 90s, he screwed up the county schools for at least 2 generations.
It will take years to recover, maybe never.
