I would love to see a Graham and Gretna game happen but I think Union at home is just to much for Gretna this year but you never know. Union hasnt been tested much this season. I think a great start by Gretna is a must. If Gretna doesnt have good athletic dbs it will probably be a very long night for them. Unions recievers are tall, fast and athletic. You just have to see them in person to realize how good they are. Union is known for coming out flat and just playing up to the level of their competition. So they are beatable but nobody has been good enough this season yet.
I disagre with the Union not being tested this season. They have played a lot larger schools, and beat some very good teams like Richlands (#4 seed, likely #2 at worst if they had won), David Crockett (not great, but much larger enrollment than Union), Letcher County Central, and three other 2A playoff teams, Wise (9-seed), Ridgeview, and Lee. Its not been constant tests every week, but its much harder to schedule great teams with Union's location. Richlands may even be the best team in 2A, and Union pulled out a tough win without one of their best players.
Every team is beatable, including Appomattox, Glenvar, Buckingham, etc... but I think if Union plays like they are capable, they will win. But thats a big if. Union does play down to its competition, but they also play up to their competition as well. They really only played two horrible teams all year, Battle and Eastside. Even the 1A team they opened with, JI Burton, only lost once all year to Union (by almost 50 points) but finished 9-1 and is near the top of the 1A West standings.
I think its a close, competitive game but if Union comes out playing at a high level and does not allow a kickoff return TD or turn the ball over, I like the Bears chances. Should be a great contest and IIRC its the first time Gretna has played Union (or PV/Appalachia for that matter).
