GW Danville 61 Patrick Co 12

Is this GW’s year? How much weight should I put on their win over Nations Ford?

We need to get more consistent on defense. Offensively, we can move the ball on most anyone. And our Special Teams has plenty of room for improvement.

As much weight as you'd put on a win over Franklin County. Every team with a winning record that NF has played has beaten them. Their remaining games are against teams currently 0-4, 0-5, 5-0, 0-4, and either 1-3 or 2-2 (nobody has finalized their most recent game) so you can probably expect them to win three, maybe four more games and finish the season 6-4 or 5-5. If they turn up and beat Gaffney (the 5-0 team) then GW might have the best win in the entire state comparatively speaking but that is a very tall order for NF.

GW's schedule finally has some teeth for a change, we'll know who they are after they finish playing Amherst, Halifax, and Bassett.

Who will be their toughest challenges? I was surprised they lost to Glass but that was also game 1 right?
They still play Dinwiddie on Nov 1st I think. Then you have EC Glass, Amherst, Salem and Louisa Co in the Region. Will have to beat at least 2 of those teams to advance to play Region A champ. Who I believe will be Broad Run this yr. Definitely a tough road for anyone

Nobody should be beating their chest after beating Patrick County but GW definitely has a better schedule this year than they’ve had in the past. Amherst, Bassett and Dinwiddie are all very good teams remaining. Bassett and Christiansburg will lock horns for their regional championship and Amherst looks the part so far. Dinwiddie is arguably the best out of Matoaca and Varina in Region B (all 3 are very good and have some huge wins so far). I say that to say, GW should be very battle tested come playoffs.

Whose beating their chest just people supporting their team I think everyone on here knows which teams are are up and which teams
Are down as for the GW Glass game GW was playing without their starting QB Jeb Byrnes
He broke his thumb on his throwing hand in the Heritage Scrimmage GW was playing QB with
A WR and a Freshman JV QB and still put up 0ver 500 yards total Offense no one beating their chest just happy some games are getting played

You and the players are. GW is supposed to beat Patrick and all of the other horrible teams in the Piedmont. Bassett may be a state semifinalist but the other teams are among the worst in the state.

That makes sense, did not realize he was out against glass

GW does look good. My post above isn’t to diminish that. Shouldn’t be getting excited about beating Patrick though.

I forgot they have the make-up game against Dinwiddie. I'd say an 8-2 GW with a loss to Dinwiddie and the early one to a seemingly quality Glass team will be for real (9-1 obviously would) but if they finish 7-3 or worse I just don't see it. Amherst, Bassett, and Halifax are all pretty good teams but I also don't see those as games GW should lose either.

Great points. I like the GW/Dinwiddie game in November. Dinwiddie has Dale, Matoaca and Hopewell left, all legit contenders in their respective classes. They could very well catch the Generals sleeping but make no mistake, GW has the talent to win without catching Dinwiddie “sleeping”. I agree. 7-3 GW shows us that they’re the GW of the past 10 years. Region is still Salem’s until someone beats them. I’d rank them: 1. Salem 2. Glass 3. GW 4. Louisa 5. Western. Should be an exciting playoff this year.

I would have Louisa lower than 4. King George, both in the spring and two weeks ago, and Patrick Henry in 2019, showed who Louisa really is.

I saw Western play and I’m not impressed. I was shocked they beat Goochland on Friday. I’d say Louisa is 2 TDs better in a head to head match up. I see a team like Louisa giving GW a hard time. Smith and Wilson are problems for any team in the Region.

I know they’ve only played 2 games, but keep your eyes on Amherst. We’ll definitely see what they’re made of Tuesday.

Yeah, but Louisa's coach can't get out of his own way.
