GW-Danville-Martinsville

Watched it on BTW21. Martinsville looks really good. They’ll be a tough out in the playoffs. Pettway is the best PG outside of McClung in my opinion. This GW team is scrappy but definitely a year or so away from making a legit run. I’m really impressed with GW’s coaching. Needed Coach Parker 4 years ago.

I know you like Coach Parker but that comment probably was not the best @DanvilleSportsHead.
Coach I know you’ve been on the staff a while, played for GW and did a lot for the program, so it’s wasn’t directed towards you or Morrison. GW’s been needed discipline from the top for a while. I’ve been a faithful fan since 2001 (I was 6 years old) when Chad Davis, TO, Bradford and Pierre Stines were running the show up until now. I’ve witnessed the ups and the lows. GW started taking a downward turn after that they lost to Stafford back in the 2010 playoffs. Had some out of this world talent come thru in the past 2 decades that You, me, and anybody else that seen the 2006-2010 teams win at least 3 state championships. Those 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2017 GW teams know that there should’ve been at least 3 rings won.. At least 6 rings. To totally blame it on the coaching would be totally ignorant and false on my part. I’m close with a good majority of all of the boys or either I used to see them around Danville so I know what they’re doing off the court and it’s not good, especially that bunch from the past 3 years. I live in Richmond now, go to all the big tournaments and chit chat with sports people.. GW is well known and respected like they should be, but I get the question all the time...Why can’t GW win the championship? That question I can’t answer other than what I see on the court. No I wasn’t at the practices, but I stood in line in freezing temperatures in 2006 to see GW play Potomac, just to be turned away..I stood in line for 5 hours to see Booker T over at Averett the week following the Potomac game, stood in line 4 hours to see GW play Freedom in 2007, I got to VCU 4 hours ahead of time to see Highland Springs/GW in 2007 after missing school that Wednesday watching GW get revenge on Booker T. I went to Mount View in 2008, squeezed into that small gym up in Fleming, hot as h*ll to support the Eagles and stood in line 3 hours for Petersburg..Rode 5 hours to Winchester from Radford in 2014, and beat the team bus to Loudoun Valley in 2016. I stayed at hotels overnight, missed time out of school, pops and I made sacrifices to come support our Eagles. Loyal fan so I believe I at least have some right to voice my frustrations. Last two years you have a cat with all the potential in the world fussing and cussing at teammates, kids making pothead moves and playing 1 on 1 ball, that same certain player doing what in the h*ll he wanted to do, 90% of the team coming into the gym with their pants sagging looking like something out the prison..All that goes into effect of why I said about the leadership, coach. I believe that Parkers is the man that the kids in Danville need. Structure, discipline, building character/integrity and a positive role model.

When you made that comment that does include Demarcus and myself because we were on that staff. All i am saying is you can praise Jermaine all you want but not at the expense of putting down others. The only people who really know what is going on with a team are the people who are there day in and day out.
So you are saying that we as a staff wasn't positive role models, did not build character and integrity?

Definitely not, however the players who played the last couple of years were not a good reflection of GW basketball. You guys can not control what happens off the court, however, what I seen on the court leads to that statement. You and I both know the actions of the kids on the team the past couple of years. Very few we can honestly say wanted to get better, both as basketball players and as young productive men. Like I say, you guys had no control off the court, but players behavior, especially Robinson’s behavior during games and the team’s overall focus and preparation starts at the top. Believe me, I know a lot more but I will leave it at that.

Coach you been with GW a long time.. How many times did Carr get in Ahmad’s face when he pulled his antics on the court? What about Parsons and P Rob? How would Coach Johnson approach that? I never seen him coach but I’ll tell you, it would not have happened. You know and I know them kids ruled the past few years. That’s why I question leadership at the top.
