Not that I don’t find it amusing that you guys get to pile on MOM, but did any of you ever doubt it? They will beat Narrows or PM next week to advance to state semis. Tons of respect for the program Dixon has at Galax. Enjoy the victory.

I recall there being a GW "fan" on here the year you guys won state in basketball and they pretty much were the most obnoxious person on the boards for a while. Always talked all "gangsta" in their posts. I think it's the same person. Anyway, good luck to GW in the future.

Just saying it's an obvious troll job either way. Definitely not funny to any GW fans or community. It wasn't funny in the winter when your girls bball team was the subject of most of MOM's lip service. It's not funny now.
Best of luck to you guys, as well. I'm sure it'll be a heckuva game with Narrows tomorrow. I'm sure the rematch will be every bit as good as the first game was. Would love to catch it!
I'd love to catch it too, just too far for me to drive I'm afraid. I'm sure it will be packed. PM fans travel well and I know Narrows fans are enjoying the resurgence of their program. The beauty of small school football. I hope PM and GW play again sometime in the near future, hard to believe those two schools went so long without playing each other on the gridiron at some point.
And yes, I doubt it's a GW fan as well. You guys have always been very classy and passionate in your posts on here. I think most people know it's not an actual GW fan, they just love to pile on that one poster when things go awry.

But my problem with it all is while everyone is piling on a troll, we had some kids who played their last game of football tonight for a program they love. They, their parents, their friends, etc., could get on here and see it. Then the "look who said this" game starts. I know a lot of folks want to pile on MOM. To be honest, I'd love to have words with that poster myself. Privately.
Personally, I don't mind the chatter. I've been around long enough to know it happens. We've been fortunate to have had good fortune at the mercy of enrollment for a long time. It's 1A football, after all. Some years, you just simply don't have the horses. That's okay. Our kids played hard this year, and they actually surpassed my expectations, and I'm proud of them.
But it's not fair to a kid who will never dress in a football uniform again to have to hear some of this stuff just because of one troll. That I'm not cool with. That's why I humbly ask to ignore MOM and just drop him/her. I won't be mad if you don't....You guys are adults. You're welcome to do what you will. I'm just asking. Don't feed the troll.

Completely understand, I messed around with him/her a little bit but definitely didnt go there tonight. Nothing but respect for GW's program, you guys will be back. Must be nice to go 7-5 in a "down" year haha. And included in that was a 28-0 pasting of Covington which I thought was very impressive.
I genuinely thought we were a 4-6 team this year lol. Like I said, they surpassed my expectations.
And the feeling is mutual, my friend. Saw a few PMC games back in the 80's when the Wheeler guys were dominating. That was awesome! The Dawson boys are definitely making their legacy up in Buena Vista themselves.
I thought GW ended up with a good year. You just have years in 1a and 2a as to where you have down years. GW played alot of teams extremely well this year. . When you look at who GW lost to this year. They lost to region D 1a no 1 seed Chilhowie, Region 2c 1 seed Radford . Region 2D Grayson County who was at the time the 2 seed. And to the Region 1 seed 1a Galax twice. They was in every game until late with everyone but Chilhowie and the second Galax game.
The kids last night was never chippy even when the game got out of hand. To see the teams help each other up after plays and bumb hands as hard as these two have played each other over the past few years speeks volumes.
Their fans have been classy as well. The same two guys from GW set beside me both games and were very friendly.

I think we can all agree that MOM is not indicative of the George Wythe fan base. Being a P.M. fan I have had the fortune of seeing teams and there fans all over the East and West and I would rank G. W. In the top 5 as far as places to play.
Every program has a few MOMS out there including P. M. but you just learn to ignore them.
Congratulations to all of the G. W players and fans on a good season. I have no doubt they will be back bigger and better then ever next year.
