PD teams will not last long once regional play starts.District Championship tonight between these two. Feel bad for anyone who paid for tickets. This is ugly and effortless. GW up 44-29 midway through 3rd.
Northside had ended Spotswood’s season three years in a row. 2022 state quarters, Northside wins by 2 at Spotswood in OT.When I watched GW against Northside, the Eagles looked very disorganized. IDK if that credit just goes to Northside's defense or what, but GW wasn't driving the ball in very well. Passing around the perimeter and settling for 3 pt attempts. Maybe GW was just off that night, but they didn't match Northside's intensity. Of course, the Vikings have made a lot of teams look bad the last 3 years.
On a separate note, Spotswood looked good against PH a couple of weeks ago. It looks like they might be on a collision course with Northside. That would be a must see matchup.
The skill level in the Piedmont is far behind from you see from the better teams ij Roanoke or Lynchburg. I’ve been more impressed with Dan River, Chatham and Gretna than any team in the Piedmont. @mike salem I’m hearing that GW will play Salem in the first round of Regions. I hope I’m wrong but I believe the Spartans will be victorious.PD teams will not last long once regional play starts.
I'm not sure what the matchups will be, but I was thinking GW & Salem would both be in the top 4 and one of them would face Charlottesville in the 1st round? I'm not sure how Salem will do in the regions. Late in the season in a couple of close games they got really tight and it cost them both times. (Glenvar 1 & PH 2) Of course, they vindicated themselves against both opponents recently. I could see them being tough to beat, but they are new to the 🏀 party. They aren't perennial powers in this sport so I'd give the playoff edge to their opponents. (whomever that may be) I definitely give the edge to Handley and Glass to make it to the Reg final. The skill level in the Piedmont is far behind from you see from the better teams ij Roanoke or Lynchburg. Region 4D does north/south subregions for basketball. Charlottesville is in the north so they are in a sub region with Handley, Millbrook, Sherando, Orange, Liberty. The south is Glass, GW, Halifax, Mecklenberg, Salem, JF, etc.I'm not sure what the matchups will be, but I was thinking GW & Salem would both be in the top 4 and one of them would face Charlottesville in the 1st round?
