Game Recap Hanover Gets the Best of LCA

Hanover and Liberty Christian Academy played a classic 4A State championship last season with the Hawks pulling out a thrilling 13-12 come from behind win. The two teams met again in a regular season matchup and once again Hanover came out on top 5-4 in an extra inning affair.

Nick Zona drove in Will Lopez for the game winning run in the bottom of the 8th inning. Lopez double and reach 3rd base on a passed ball with two outs. Zona lined a single to center field to give Hanover the walk-off win.

Camden Grimes allowed one hit in the final two innings and he was credited with the win. Grimes struckout four with one bases on balls. Starting pitcher Antonio Balducci allowed no earned runs in six innings.

Liberty Christian took a 3-0 lead in the top of the 3rd inning when Pierce Howard drove in three runs with a single. Hanover tied the score in the bottom of the 3rd inning when the first four batters reached base. Michael Warley had an RBI single and scored on an error.

Liberty Christian Academy regained the lead in the sixth inning after Jacob Williams scored on a pass ball with the bases loaded. With two outs in the bottom of the 7th inning, Warley beat out an infield grounder to score Chenault to send the game to extra innings.

Michael Warley was 2 for 4 with two RBI and Jack Chenault went 3 for 3 with two runs scored. Wesley Clarke collected two hits in three plate appearances for Liberty Christian Academy.
