Mike Vann, first team all state AAA should be in the top 10.

Ruell Pringle, 6'1" Jr. Salem High School, First Team All-Beach, Second Team All-Tidewater, is not on your listing at all. This area is as competitive as any in the state. With those honors, he should be there.

Pringle

Is Pringle currently a sophomore or a junior? He is definately a player. Nice J, good hops and puts it onthe floor real well.

Re: Pringle

Pringle is currently a Junior. Had a great year a Salem. Looked great at the state tournament in Prince William County leading Va. Beach to a 6-1 record and at least 3rd in the state. Finals are on the 17th at Grandby High School at 10:00am against Team Richmond 4-1. Chesapeake is the only undefeated team at 5-0.

Re: Achgee

Yeah, I was there with the Va. Beach Heat team.
Team members:
Starters:
Ruell Pringle 6'1" SG Salem
Tory Green 6'0" PG Salem
Darren Butts 6'5" SF Landstown
Ralph Hegamin 6'8" PF Kellam
Marcus Mitchell 6'8" C Salem

Terrell Dixon 5'10" PG/SG Salem
Jamal Parker 6'3" SF Salem
Antonio Appleby 6'5" PF Salem
Leander Skeet 6'3" SF Salem
Stanley Pringle 5'11" PG Landstown
Norman hassell 6'4" SF Kellam

All around size was the key to most teams winning. There was even a 7'2" guy from a Richmond team there. Although tall, he must have only weighed about 200lbs. That was a key in us defeating them.

The strongest teams:
Boo Williams Chesapeake 5-0
Boo Williams Va. Beach Heat 6-1
Team Richmond 4-1
Richmond Squires Greenway 5-2
Va Shooting Stars 4-2

Although the finals aren't over, all these team qualified for the Nationals in Bloomington, Indiana 29 June-6 July.

Re: Achgee

Who, in your opinion were the top guards in the tournament? And why? How about your opinion about the big men as well. Thanks, if you have the time.

Re: Achgee

First, I will be honest and say that I'm being biased for the Va. Beach Heat players, but with good reason.

The best all around PG, Tory Green 6'0" Va. Beach. - best decision-maker and poise I witnessed. The rest of his game is solid. Defense, 3-pt range, ball handling, rebounding and FTs.

Tyrese Rice, PG Team Richmond definite long range shooter. About equal skills as Green. Take your pick here. I go with the team player.

SG, 6'1", Ruell Pringle Va. Beach - just watch this kid warm up and you'll be amazed. Can control the game at will.

Chesapeake has athletic talent everywhere. Kendrick Easley, 6'1", SG has all kinds of skills.

Big men everywhere were also good. The Va. Shooting Stars had probably the best big man in the tournament. About 6'8", 250-60, he was a tough handle for almost everyone. Once he got the ball on the block, it was almost automatic.

The 7'2" kid from Richmond is a project and needs weight and stamina. A Chuck Nevitt type (old school Detroit).

Peace...

Re: Achgee

What is your opinion on Eric Hayes? 6'2", long arms and has all of the attributes you rightfully laid on Tory Green. Talked to his father and he said Eric averaged 20ppg in the tourney with 26 against the Va Beach Heat. He played the point for Potomac this season as a freshman.

Re: Achgee

I'm not sure of the kid's name, but he was #3 for the Va. Shooting Stars. Va. Beach played them the first game of the tournament and lost by approx 12 points. #3 had a great game. He must have drained 6 treys. He is more of a shooter at the SG than a PG.

I'm familiar with Coach Jesse who has great knowledge of the game and coached outstanding for the Shooting Stars. #3 played well, along with the 6'8" C. My guess is the Heat took them too lightly. Before they knew it, they were down by 14 points, which is hard to come back from on a good team. Then there was the rematch.

The Heat avenged that first lost by defeating the Shooting Stars in the elimination game. #3 was not much effective in that lost even though you still knew he could play.

A pivotal confrontation between Green and #3:
Stars trying to make a comeback by getting #3 the ball. He tries to penetrate on the wing with a crossover and Green plucks it away and finds a streaking player for a layup. That seems to be his game.

#3 is a great shooter and smart player, no doubt. As far as PGs, I want one that could do it ALL. It's just that important to have an all around PG.

I'm sure they will see each other throughout their high school careers and both will have their ups and downs. I'm sure there is much mutual respect.

Good luck to the both...

Peace

Brad Farrell, Herndon High, 6'5" 190, plays with Brian Johnson, Peter Prowitt on DC Blue Devils AAU team. First Team Concorde District Team 02-03, First Team Northern Region Tournament team 02-03. 17ppg as junior. two year starter, three year varsity.

Bambale Osby is at Benedictine, Charles Collins is at Amelia Academy, Reshaun McLemore is at Notre Dame Academy, Wyatt Hicks is at Highland Springs, Thomas Green is at George Wythe and should not even be on this list and Aaron Scott from Brunswick should be way higher on the list.
